Classy Cadillacs

Just realized something else odd about that shot. Why the sausage fest? 4 women are shown exiting church, another 2 above line of men near top center, and a final partial female off crop walking by hedge above them. Were they still in church maybe..?

College coach all guys were probably faculty and teams forming honor guard, all others would have followed the casket and family?????also note in post #679 second picture is that a shadow of a step ladder?

This is certainly one rare coach that I wished more complete (and color) images existed of. Currently day dreaming about what two-tone color combo it was. Cropped/enlarged:

expensive service car? never seen coach like this as a straight funeral coach. saw a two tone 56 service car back in the day and it was baby blue over white. maybe?

dark over light like all the 50s and green and green. common color in that set of years. but really it like asking what color the Vet in rout 66 was. there were two different ones used and they were different colors. just the same shade

'30 Cadillac bodied by Cunningham as their flagship Cathedral funeral car in a town car edition. It was made for Ambruster Chapel.

'30 was last year before redesign. From coachbuilt.com:

Cunningham started off 1931 with the introduction of the “new” Cathedral funeral car. Essentially it was their decades-old 8-column hearse and included either carved-wood or glass compartment panels. Totally carved editions included beautiful walnut and mahogany interiors while glass-panel versions combined exotic woods with heavy damask draperies. The Cathedral was available in either closed or town car editions with a choice of colors and appearance options which included wire wheels and Gordon side-mounted tire covers.

Chicago Sun-Times, Sept 1966, a Chicago Gray & Black '63 M-M Landau 3-Way hearse carrying the body of slain Valerie Percy, 21-year-old daughter of senatorial candidate Charles H. Percy, leaves the family's Kenilworth mansion. Note the makeshift "partition" created by draping a sheet between the side-loading doors...

The young woman's murder was never solved. A link to her story...
