Classy Cadillacs

I did hear that the 54 prototype Beau Monde was green with a white or real pale green roof. The last I heard, it was supposed to be in a barn somewhere in the OH/IN/KY area several years ago.

Here's an interesting item sent to me by Jim Jordan.

Country singer "Gentleman Jim" Reeves was killed in a plane crash near Nashville, TN in 1964:

Apparently, Phillips-Robinson handled local arrangements and shipped his body to Carthage, Texas. The coach is 1964 Royale Limousine combination. Although the caption uses the term "funeral procession," the car is probably leaving for the airport or, perhaps, the trip to Texas:

We all appreciate an organization that puts their historic photos - especially procar ambulances - on their website:

http://www.bhfc11.com/gallery/showalbumphoto/abid/MTA5Nw==

Looks like they took somewhat of a liking to Superior Cadillacs temporarily, but not exclusively as their first ambulance was a 1948 Pontiac (unknown coachbuilder), and then after 4 Superior Cadillacs in a row they switched to a 1966 S&S Cadillac, and their last pro car was a 1974 M-M Cadillac.

Wonder if something about Superiors frustrated them enough to switch to an S&S and then to a M-M before going to all mods after their 1974 M-M.

Thank you Steve Loftin for sharing the link to their site, which chronicles their assets' history chronologically.

The Pontiac is a Superior, as well.

It's hard to say, obviously, why they seemed so loyal (at least 18 years is hardly temporary). But so much of the time, at least in this area, the decision of what brand ambulance to buy was (and still is) a function of the strength of the local dealer and sales staff. BH in Delaware was actually pretty close to the Wolfington Superior dealership in PA, which may explain their Superior purchases, but perhaps a newer dealership or stronger salesman may have come along to win their "affections" (and busine$$).

Then brand new '51 Miller landau 3-way used for funeral of comedian/actress Fanny Brice, dated 3/31/51. CA license plate (COM)P28113. My eyesight prohibits reading side door nameplate.

Ron Hast said the Fanny Brice hearse, was likely a livery vehicle from California Hearse Service and the firm was Malinow & Simons, a Los Angeles firm...

This is certainly one rare coach that I wished more complete (and color) images existed of. Currently day dreaming about what two-tone color combo it was. Cropped/enlarged:

Cropped/enlarged/enhanced to take a shot @ identifying landau. Think paparazzi would get away with same hearse abuse today?
