Classy Cadillacs

Atti, that photo was taken inside the styling section at the General Motors Technical Center in Detroit (Warren) in the 1950s. The car you see on the wall is a full-scale rendering the 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham Town Car concept that was displayed at the New York City GM Motorama at the Waldorf Hotel. This was a fiberglass "idea car" built on a 129.5-inch wheelbase and, without an engine or drivetrain, was strictly a "push-mobile" show car. While never intended for production, it sure wowed the crowds attending these spectacular GM shows. I believe that this car survives in a private collection.

Limousine rates have changed a little since 1964:

Atti, that's one of the design studios at the GM Technical Center in Warren, MI...

And the rendering on the wall is of the 1956 Eldorado Brougham Town Car, one of the concept cars built for GM's '56 Motorama at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NY...

There is a great article highlighting the 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham Town Car in a recent issue of Hemmings Classic Car.

Atti....amazing photos. This looks to be a 150-inch wheelbase 1930-1931 Cadillac V-8 commercial chassis adorned with what looks like coachwork by the A.J. Miller Company in Bellefontaine, Ohio. An amazing car. Thanks for posting these images.

The Weed Corley 1954 Superior is definitely NOT a Beau Monde. The "B" pillars on a Beau Monde are ribbed chrome (and fold up into a compartment in the headliner) and the "C" pillars are very thin and chrome on a Beau Monde.

Jim is absolutely correct and Superior only produced the hardtop Beau Monde for '55 and '56 anyway... They built ONE '54 as a prototype/show car for the Oct. '54 NFDA Convention in Boston, Mass.
