Classy Cadillacs

This 1960 Eureka combination was for sale in McLean, IL in the mid-1970s. If I remember correctly, it was priced at less than $1,000:

Copied this picture on a visit to the Hanover Fire Museum in Hanover, PA.

It's a '48 Superior Cadillac ambulance from Hanover Fire Co. No. 1.

The Haigler 76 is still running around OKC although slightly customized and the 70 is sitting in the back yard of the funeral director I sold it to

Marvelous period shot transferred from a color slide of a '54 Superior when still in service. Even if rear may be spare wheel, neat seeing color matched wheels and Cadillac dog dishes!

That 68 superior with Len at the wheel was once owned by Alexander ambulance service in Welland Ont.and I do believe Len tracked it to Florida and brought it home to Chatham, were it takes its turn at the EMS museum.

Yes- that sure was Jerome Alexander's unit- The 4 top beacons was the giveaway,This car is pictures in the book regarding the blizzard of 76 buried in the snow at Chamber's corners between Wellnd Ont. & St. Catharines, Ont.

I remember the twin 63 Superior Cadillac's run by Associated Ambulance here in Calgary had the same small marker lights.

Before and after shots of Crawford Funeral Chapel's '57 Superior. More info/pics on their website.

What a great looking coach! I know we've talked a lot about this here before (modernizing vs. restoring an old coach), but it's nice to see it actually done and put back into service. If I were spending the $80K+ for a new hearse, this is what I'd take over any currently manufactured coach. All the class and style of a vintage car, with all the updates to ensure it lasts another 50 years.
