Sad Pro-Cars

'47; '48 & '49 grills are similar and neither retains prewar resemblance.

I have a CA friend looking for a set of landaus for his '49 S&S. Other than his description of appearing "similar but different" to later S&S bars I didn't know what to keep an eye out for. Now I do. ;)

47 and 48 are the same, but 49 is a total different design. You are right, none of these are similar to prewar, but 46 is close to 47 except had 6 horozontal bars instead of 5 like 47-48 models.
Here pics of a 47, 48 and 49.

Sad Pro Cars

I have had these 8 photos taken at the same place for 25 years and can't remember where I got/took them. Can anyone help me out? Early Alzheimers/dementia, I guess!

*Yawn*

Perhaps my punctuation confused you. I was not stating that '47-'49 were similiar, that was a semi colon not a comma. S&S in Steve's video is not a '48.

The '48 you showed is a carryover '47, not the true postwar design that debuted in '48. Oh, that's right~ Cadillac FINS debuted in '48 too (something else lacking entirely from your '48 submission). Many times a car was titled the year it sold, which doesn't make it that year.

These (both original) '48 and '49 fastbacks reside in same collection. Note how hood curves downward on '48 and '49 is straight.

The 48 commercial chassis did not get the bodystyle that all other cadillacs got, they were carryovers from 47. The first new style of the commercial chassis was 1949. By the way, the series 75 did not get Cadillacs new body style until 1950, so a 49 series 75 looks just like a 47.
there is no reason to yawn me, Im just trying to help. Look at the post you said 48 & 49 are similar, i read it correctly! Yes they are similar on all Cadillac models EXCEPT comercial chassis and series 75.

I never understood why the Commercial Chassis changed to the new styling in 1949 but the Series 75 retained the same prewar styling as 1948.

Dont know why. I know the series 75 did have concept to build the 49 with the new body, but for some reason they decided not to build them.

More confusing than sad. At least this '63 Superior Crown Sovereign Landaulet roof was left intact! No partition either but that could have been removed.

Bet it sucked having bodies passed through the kitchen when trying to have a simple breakfast. ;)

Sunnyside Auto Salvage

I stopped at Sunnyside Auto Salvage in Jonesburg, MO this week to check out 2 coaches that owner Don Heidbrink had told me about. The first was a '66 C-B Oldsmobile Seville, and the other being a '74 Miller Meteor end-loading landau. Both cars have already spent too much time outdoors to be restorable. I wasn't able to get any photos of the '74 as it was wedged in so tight. Also, forgot to check the back bumper for all of you '74-'76 owners, but Don is supposed to be checking it out and getting back to me. Don wants to sell the '66 C-B complete, but I think that he is asking too much at $1800 for a parts cars.

'66 C-B Seville

Give him a call Ed! You could do this one! His name is Don Heidbrink. Phone number is 636-359-5620. Very nice guy. Just one of those guys that is on the high end on everything that he has. The car is 100% complete

I could go for a limo style Seville. the sitting flat in the weeds is never nice. but if it's complete from the pictures and they always lie if not all that rough.

Hey Kurt, Thanks for all your great pics of your travels. Did you get any pics of that 58 Coupe de Ville I see in the line up with the Seville?

'66 Seville

Didn't get any photos of that Coupe deVille, but did get photos of a better '58 Coupe deVille that he also owns and is looking to sell. See attached.
