This black crinkle over dark blue '73 M-M combination was seen on the Crain's (then new) lot in 1997. Does anyone here recognize this car?

Shields - Part I

Shields Southeast Sales has been in the Atlanta area since 1969. Here are a few photos that I took during a 1998 visit:

Shields - Part II

1976 and 1970 M-M combinations; note that the '76 has been repainted and trimmed to match a newer car, similar to Josh Gentry's "shop queen:"

Any info on the Flower Car sitting next to 78 M-M endloader? in thead #345

Imagine my surprise when I saw this thing...flower car? Hearse? All I know is that it's a 1979 Cadillac, likely a local conversion. This was taken on a weekend and no one was around to ask. I wish now that I had taken some detail shots and that I'd remembered to call the following week to inquire about it...d'oh! :pat:

Can anyone here fill us in on this?:

Danny and I used to go to Crain and Shields all the time back then. That's about when I joined PCS. Seems like a lifetime ago...

I saw that '73 M-M combination when I bought my first pro car, a '74 Superior endloader from Crain, but this combination was twice as much, so I couldn't afford it. On the opposite side of the parking lot, about mid way down the row was my car. If memory serves me correctly, my '74 was about $1200, and the '73 was about $2500.

Danny ended up buying out a bunch, something like 10-12, of the Shields cars later on. I remember seeing most of these, but I don't know if any of these were the ones he bought, as I think what he got were mostly post-76 cars. Can't remember what the exact story on that '79 is, but it was a local hack job of a conversion. It was an ugly thing, and the body work leaked like a sieve. Danny, and probably Cary, can tell you the exact history...

Wow...what a doll! This girl is nothing short of pure class. I would love to have seen her in color (I wonder what they were?). Note the red parking light lenses, plus a Sterling #20 Sirenlite on the left front fender:

Memoriessssssssssssssssssssss God I miss hitting the Atlanta coach dealers in the old days......I started shooting stuff there in 86. I stumbled on this the other day.....from 81.

A few more from Shields on Brady St ( the sign is still there) This one is 69 Superior 001...was bought for a funeral home in Ellijay Ga this is the car pictured in the parts manual for 69. I still have the warranty card for this car:)

This 70 was from Bushelon Funeral Home in Birmingham and was "ludicrously" priced. The 74 (right) next to it was used in the first season of "In The Heat of the Night" TV series.

If memory serves me correct...I turned Buck Wendt onto the 69 as a parts car for a 69 SC Flower car he was restoring and he did in fact buy it (this was like 1987).

A few more from Crains in the good old days. Ask about a car.......they say $1500 or $2000....offer $500 per car cash they say NO way!........start to leave......and most likely you owned them :)

This 73 Crown was bought by myself and a few friends in a package deal back in winter of 89/90, 3 cars for $1500, this Crown won in the funeral class at Atlanta PCS meet in 1990....all it needed was detailing. One other car from that trip was a 72 MM combination with 30k miles that was mint....these things were plentiful ages ago....I cant remember what the 3rd was but most likely a 69-73. We grabbed ALOT of nice cars out of Atlanta over the years. Some trips there were damn near 100 pre 1975 cars laying around.

Not sure what to think of this. Looks like something Patrick Martin should own.

I know most people wouldn't concider brown to be a classy color, but I think this is one of the classiest mid 70's coaches I've ever seen.:myopinion:
