How many Criterion's are left...

My car and Chris Buno's rig.

I very much enjoy seeing all the Criterions from over the years. The 54XL though is truly a rare breed. A post about them would be very short.

Bet it is longer than Richard's Christmas gift list... :yankchain:

Bill Leverett found this Criterion in Canada and just adding the picture posted by him from another post here on the Criterion thread.

Thanks for finding another one Bill.

Numbers?

Not sure how many have survived, but I can tell you that in 1974 there were 5 Criterions in BC. One is the picture that Richard posted in the last post (from Revelstoke FD). The other 4 were apparently leased from Howard Distributors in Burnaby BC. When the leases expired they were returned to Howard Distributors. I have no idea where they went after that although I have a picture of one that went to auction in 1984. Tim P. may be able to look back in some of the flyers he has from Howard Distributor to see if they were ever listed.

I'm shocked.

Mr. Moderator, can we get a smiley that says something like "this photo is useless without information?"

It will cost the website too much to have the artwork done. If you want to underwrite the costs, I will get it posted. Do you want the address where to send the money? I will get the estimate of cost once you commit to paying for it. :yankchain:

tis I that sent the pic.

I lifted it from Facebook. Was run by Professional Ambulance Service in Connecticut in the early '80s. Same outfit had a downsized Miller that can be found on the Northland site. I don't know the gentleman in the pic. I talked to a former employee of that era that said the operator was fond of picking up low mileage Cadillacs from volunteer squads and running them into the ground. I knew this nicely equipped car would get Mr. Loftin's attention.

Thanks Scott. I got it with your email address but no name. Thanks for sharing. xmass

While mildly intoxicated, on an ambulance buying mission in Orlando, FL in September.. I sat next to someone at the bar in the Embassy Suites hotel that owned a company called "Professional Ambulance Service" in California in the 70's. Don't remember his name, the conversation is somewhat lost as well. One too many Jack & Coke's.

You've been had!

The man who owned Professional from inception until it sold to Med Trans (now AMR) was Rand Brooks. He passed away several years ago.

There is a Professional Ambulance Service in Cambridge Massachusetts. They provide 911 coverage with the City of Cambridge Fire Department.
