It is indeed, Richard!

I think this is the very same clinic that purchased Kevin Lynch's Criterion. I have no idea where that ambulance is these days.

Here are some images of Kevin's former '74 Criterion, which he sold (in 1999) to the same physician my 54XL went to, displayed in the San Diego clinic's lot...

That Criterion was subsequently acquired, in 2004, by A.J. Heightman, Editor in Chief of JEMS Magazine. I'll try to post an image or two, when I locate the ones Mr. Heightman sent me.

Jems ambulance

Dr. Richard's: That Ambulance made a few local "appearances" right he bought it at Fire and EMS related events at QUALLCOM (Chargers) Stadium and other venues, but I haven't seen it now for at least 3+ years. If you locate it.... let me know as I (may) want to make him an offer on it! THX-MM

...As best as I was able to determine, this ambulance originally served the community of Laurel, Maryland... though I was never able to actually confirm that as fact.
Dave, I didn't know that, but I have a lot of friends at Laurel, I can check this out for you soon! I've not seen photos of a 54XL at Laurel.

I know from the last time I talked to A.J. (this Spring) that he still owns his Criterion. You could contact him through JEMS magazine.

Laurel 54xl

Dave, I didn't know that, but I have a lot of friends at Laurel, I can check this out for you soon! I've not seen photos of a 54XL at Laurel.

The gentleman I purchased the 54XL from, back in 1993, who owned a small local transport service in eastern Pennsylvania at the time, told me it was his understanding that Wolfington Body Company (the Pennsylvania distributor) had originally sold the ambulance to a fire department in Laurel, MD. The lighted sign plates on both sides of the car, though blank when I acquired it, clearly bore faint remnants of the lettering "LAUREL." I attempted to make inquiries with both the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department and Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad several years ago, hoping to learn about the car's history, but came up empty.

70 MM shortly after acquiring her 2005.

So far this is one car that will always have a home. Did add beacon soon after picture made.

67 MM combo

Hey Josh, recently bought cousin of yours. A 1967 caddy MM combo with 49k. Adam Borkot found it for me and was kind enough to go check it out while visiting relatives over thanksgiving and I was sooo slow going after the car the owner brought it to me for only gas money. WIll get picture ASAP. Will need paint but solid as a rock and interior very good. Came from south Ga. funeral home which I am going to call and see more history but have original warranty papers and insurance cards through 1990 being in service and somehow ended up in a junkyard in ALabama and guy I got from found it and drug it home and did some minor mechanical stuff to it and got it going again, sure glad to save one from certain death. Even had some old ambulance equipment still in cabinets in rear. Josh, you need another 67?

1974 Criterion

Kevin Lynch's former Criterion was subsequently acquired, in early 2004, by A.J. Heightman, Editor in Chief of JEMS Magazine. I'll try to post a few images when I locate the ones Mr. Heightman shared with me back then.

Here are the images I received from A.J. Heightman in 2004, shortly after he acquired the Criterion from Dr. Tamsen, the San Diego physician who had purchased it from Kevin Lynch in 1999, along with my Superior 54XL...

My Favorites

I was going through some old pictures I had tonight, and ran across these. These have got to be my favorites. The first is of my 71 Superior Sovereign Combination at the Funeral Home the day I got her. the second, is when she arrived home. Both on the same day.

Josh

The upper photo of Josh's 71 was made out behind our funeral home that was in Lebanon. The stable in the back is where our ambulances and combo's were all parked. Didn't have a photo of that ole shed myself. Thanks for posting that Josh!

Nice pictures. Did you guys noticed the siren speakers and how they are mounted.

I saw that too, Richard. Interesting how the CP100s are angled slightly outward. I'm sure the intent was to provide more siren/PA sound coverage toward the sides of the vehicle, but I'm not sure how effective it actually was.

Interesting look, though. I might even consider doing that with mine.

CP-100's angled outward

I am sure that it was intended for better coverage at intersections, however the BIGGIN' in the middle still did most of the work! MM

...(that "BIGGIN' in the middle") should really be a Super Chief though, right Mike!?! Especially out in your neck of the woods!
