Yeah. I wondered about that myself. Somehow where a drip rail molding shold be, it looks unfinished or perhaps, being a Federal - the molding just fell off. Looks tacky.

It does look like its missing trim but I dont think thats the case. If you look close at the drip rail over the back door you can see the chrome trim but you can see 5 of the same type marks. I wonder if it is the screws reflecting off the camera flash?
Any one know what the exact year of the Lincoln is?

I think that it might be the reflection of the canopy lighting, each light showing as a "star" on the chrome molding.

What it is exactly, is vinyl top moulding. It is colored and or extruded in the same color as the color of the vinyl roof to be installed on, instead of the traditional chrome drip rail mouldings and drip rails. It is possible as well that this finished edge could be the result of some type of core with the vinyl wrapped around it and then tacked of course with the decorative conchos/bling that we are all looking at.

Missing Molding

This video shows the driver's side of the hearse and you can see what the missing molding on the passenger side should look like.

I have never liked this version of the Town Car, but this one is much more pleasing proportion-wise than many of them are. Just paint it white. By coincidence, the classical station on the radio here just struck up a jazz-tinged "Amazing Grace" instrumental, with just trumpet and piano. Very nice, indeed. Now it is morphing into the "Saints." Never heard of either gent, but they are good.

Wow, what a difference from view to view. Exactly, doesn't look as I speculated how the top might be trimmed out along the edges. Sure opens possibilities of a different method to finish out a vinyl roof! Although not original, it gives Doug Gilman an alternate to his missing drip rail if he wants to incorporate the design into a new roof.

Aha! Just as I thought. The right side drip molding has fallen off. Says a lot about Federal quality. I'm surprised that the funeral director would use a damaged vehicle - even slightly damaged such as this one - for such a high profile event. They've gotta know that the car would be photographed, videoed and seen world-wide and leave open to question if the vehicle reflects the standards of service rendered client families by their firm. Have they no pride??? The call was obviously not a surprise. They could have borrowed or rented another vehicle - even from a manufacturer or dealer. Let's hope that they use something more suitable for the Friday services. If I were the family.....I would insist on something else.

Fact is..how many people know that the car is (or maybe) damaged or missing parts. We are a select few who can pick apart a professional car and tell you if something is wrong. I know several funeral directors who wouldn't notice any issues with the car unless it was pointed out to them.

I question the suggestion that they borrow a different hearse for this situation. Any funeral home that has any pride puts it's best service out there for every family....no matter if it is the president of the United States or a homeless man found in the street. If your equipment isn't good enough for "high class" people, it isn't good enough for anyone. To me, if you have to borrow better equipment for a "special case" then your not treating your regular families fairly.
