Weather disaster in Tennessee.

Jeremy D. Ledford

PCS Volunteer Chapter President
As some may know we are currently in a state of disaster in Tennessee. Over the past few hours we have had torrental non stop rains and now we are dealing with major flash flooding on a scale that hasn't been seen here in our area in over 20+ years. Here is a link to the Lebanon Tennessee town square, http://www.lebanondemocrat.com/news.php?viewStory=3671. I was one of the last cars around the square about two hours ago when they closed it down. And yes, that little white car just sitting there is a 1965 T-Bird. Water is about 3 foot deep now just on the square. I'm home on the hill but since there is creeks on each end of my road I'm pretty sure I'm flooded in for the evening now. As I was on my way home I seen water in places where I haven't seen flood waters in 20+ years myself and only a mile or to from here. As far as I know all other area PCS'ers are OK and flood water free and safe here and all pro-car collections are safe as well. I'll keep everybody posted

Take Care & Good Luck

Jeremy, all I can say is hang on. That doesn't do you a whole lot of good, but I do understand your situation. In Sept., 2000, my wife and I came within 50 yards or so of being sent to the next realm by a tornado in Xenia, OH. Take every precaution and stay safe. Jim

I just heard theres another system moving in with in the nex couple houres, thats going to dump double what we already have over night, and through tomorrow. Heres a video I found on youtube to give you more of a idea how much rain we've had so far. This is about 30 miles or so from me, Jeremy, and Kent.

Just walked out to the shop, the combos are ok, but the waters starting to come in pretty good. I just moved the 71 to the back with the 67, where its dry. Hopefully the water wont make it in that far.

Josh

During the tornado I mentioned, our M-M combo was in the garage, but the Bayliff Packard was in the driveway and took a direct hit from a huge up-rooted tree. Next day I drove the Bayliff away after the chain saws had carved up the tree. Hang on.

Im from 32 miles north of Mmphis Covington, TN and its been a mess all day, I was was actually on my way up there this morning. I have never seen water and flooding like this before in this area. The funeral home were I work flooded all the arrangment rooms and hallway. Another funeral in Millington TN has knee deep water in it. The bad part is most people around those areas dont have flood insurance. In covington, TN as of 1pm this afternoon that had 14 inches of rain since around 2 that morning. The bad part to is the water is not receding in some places its actually rising.

As Josh said theres more coming, and yes, there are already tornado warnings to the south west of us again!

Oh NO!!!! Flash floods and creeks? Make sure the cars arent parked in a hay barn!

I'm on a hill! So it would have to be a flood of Biblical size to get me! All is wet to, so no chance of fires!

My ex husband is a deputy for the Wilson County Sheriff's department, just talked to him he said he was trying to get to someone stranded in flood waters and killed his 2009 patrol car in the water, said whatever it did to it, it won't go over 70 now. He said there is a pretty good chance that there have been a lot of animals and livestock die in this mess. I'm on a little bit of a hill so I hope I'll be ok. My electricity just went out for a few minutes and it sounded like someone poured a bucket of hail on top of the house...I just heard 3 - 5 people have died in the Nashville area. An excursion train going to Watertown got stuck somewhere between Watertown and Lebanon with 400 passengers and they are taking school buses, trying to get all the people off the train.

This is a picture of the square in Lebanon, around 5:00 - 6:00 this afternoon. All the areas under water is parking areas except the circle for traffic. That White T-bird has been parked there on the square for a very long time. I've heard it belongs to an attorney that has an office on the square. I'm sure it's under water by now. I'll miss seeing it, it's always there. Maybe someone got to it....I doubt it though...

Correction: The train was on the other side of Watertown heading to Crossville! I knew Jeremy would correct me, so I wanted to beat him to it!

So far, I'm fine. I have no standing water on my property as yet. We are expecting more rain today so we'll see what happens. I think the highway, from Lebanon to Watertown, is still open as I see a good bit of traffic going past the house.I'll know if things are really bad if I see one of Jeremy's coachs float past the house, but that is highly unlikely as I live at the bottom of his hill and there's no standing water here yet.
I was lucky as I got off work, in Hermitage (a suburb of Nashville) at 7AM yesterday and drove home (27 mi.) in very heavy rain. I got home safely and have been keeping up with the weather on TV.
So far we're all safe here. We'll keep you posted.

there is nothing like high water to really show you how vary little you can do when Mom nature is at it worse. the creek rising does make you think about 2 more feet though. you sit around and watch people grab up and develop land that should be farmed and wounder were are the people that are or should know about drainage ,safety and building cods. then something like this comes along and its wiped out. but as soon as the water goes down they vow to build it again. there is a reason for hill county. it's so you can build on top of them and look down at the cows in the valley. so everyone keep safe keeping dry is a option but keep safe. it sure seams like we are having a year of it first the north east now the mid west. it's moving in land
