I had a collection of Modulance, Prestige, and Summers sales literature until my ex threw them out in one of her fits. They would be collectors items today.

Gerstenslager was mainly known in the fire service for their rescue vehicles, but did build a few carryall ambulances. Here's an ad from the May, 1964 issue of Fire Engineering that shows a 1963 Chevrolet built for Duxbury, MA:

notice how long and low they were made to appear in the advertisements

I noticed that, the artists doing the illustrations definitely made these renderings much longer, lower, and sleeker than they were in real life. And in some cases they took such liberties that some of the cars almost look like low-riders...or like the cars had real suspension problems because they were sunk almost down to the road in some of the illustrations!
 
I was just thinking for funeral service, I guess since they were shown with the ambulance and the hearse I was thinking they were used for something with them.
