Pontiac procar pics

Strange that of all the mirrors that they could have chosen, they picked a 1963 Chrysler mirror to mount on the door. This mirror was originally used on the fender of the 1963 Chrysler products, and was only available in a remote control configuration. Wonder if they cut the cables off or it is still a remote control mirror.

I was pretty sure that it is a Canadian Pontiac. There are subtle differences in the "look" of these cars when comparted with their American-built counterparts. These Canadian Pontiacs are based on Chevys - use Chevy drivetrain and the basic bodies all adorned with Pontiac trim. John Little you say? That makes sense. Thanks.

addition to the "service"

This past week I was fortunate enough to take delivery of Kevin Lyons 57 Superior Pontiac. He has previously posted pictures in the photo section. The move allows Kevin to focus on restoration of a 1974 C/B Olds owned and in service in the past with Lyons Ambulance.

I cannot thank Kevin enough at making this happen!

It will transition into Starrs livery here in Calgary.

This Acme underwent a 2 year restoration. Jeff Barb says in nice weather it sees frequent service and is the most requested vintage coach he's owned. It is actually black over a (very) dark gray and I apologize for being out of focus. Camera was having an internal shaking/calibration issue.

One thing I learned? How narrow Acme's rear loading door was, which will definitely assist field IDing if the situation ever arises.

Any idea what the table came out of, or was it built just for this car?

it would look to me that the interior has been redone as to some one wishes. but if the table was put in when new they most likely went across the river and got one for Eurkia they did a nice job on the dash. the acme has a distinctive set of doors. they treatment was there's and not copied. but the car was still built off the sedan delivery so it used the standard Gm rear door door. same as the one I have here. but it's indeed a rare will cared for car. one of two restored acmes I know of.

Jeff stated that only one small (exterior) item was not left as originally equipped (although had restoration shop asked, it would have been). That statement, coupled with original paperwork/sales sheet for his '53 kept in a binder, led me to believe that the car had the extend table to begin with. I did not scrutinize said paperwork.

Also, after relaying that I only know location of one other '53 Acme Pontiac, Jeff's first question was "Does it also have an extend table?"

No - it doesn't.

.

You mentioned it being Black over grey, (I know this gray is darker than the one below) but I wonder if this is the same coach before restoration.

the guys always had to add the lighted hood emblem off the Chiefton they had a one feather and a two feather and the plated hood emblem as the models went up. the big thing I notice was the painted wood grain dash. there is a man up in northern Mn or eastern Nd?? that has a 53 Acme ambulance.

I really like that old military Pontiac. A guy in Lubbock had a '63 military hightop Pontiac in the Navy colors. It had the stacked bullet lights much like the '70 Pontiac in this thread. No whistle or beacon. The guy only wanted $400 for it. I got beat to it by a college kid or cannabalized the car. Terrible way for something that nice to go. It was standard shift and drove like a dream.

Atty, do you have any idea what the Utah care would need to get it going and what they want for it?

I know nothing more than what was posted about it Skip. According to Wikipedia, Green River is a town of less than 1000 people. Finding the exact location in such a confined area should prove akin to shooting fish in a barrel: too easy. Start by asking local fire department - there is only one. 435.564.8111

Couple more shots found online after looking. It's been sitting in the same spot at least 4 years.

This next all original running/driving '60 Superior combination survivor completely floored me, having not seen it before. More below image.

Stumbling across that random pic online without any info sent me into a whirlwind to find out more - after enlarging/enhancing confirmed for sale sign posted in side window. Searching other uploads from same gentleman suggested IN from multiple license plates. Bits and pieces from other pics showed a couple James Dean references. Online search showed a James Dean Run in Fairmont, IN held in Sept. Then searching others uploaded pics from that car show provided another angle of the '60 that I was able to enlarge/enhance for sale sign better. $5500 was crossed out and $4500 written underneath - with a cell number! Of course I called immediately, 6 months later, to find out that the coach sold either at that car show or as a result thereof...

It stayed in IN and has already been stripped to bare metal and repainted. Only item non-original was the generator, which has since been acquired by new owner. The car show seller relayed that it drove very well and originally hailed from Arkansas.

What a neat coach. Hope to see it in person one day. :specool:

Vintage capture of a '62 Superior combination. Could this be the missing link/origination of hearse/hurst confusion? :yum:

Rather unadorned '64 Superior ambulance. Perhaps the most plain non-military high top yet.
