Omaha Orange or Lime Green ?

I like the Arbor Green Poly on the 61 Chevy Impala and the 1963 Ford Galaxie "D" Ming Green (Dark Turquoise) Metallic with the white top. My 64 Superior was in the metallic blue with white top and dark blue vinyl with white piping. Just a few colors to think about.

I rest my case.:D No pix posted to this point are lime green.
. . . the lime green . . .
The lime green ambulance . . .
My vote is for the lime green/fire truck safety yellow color!
Since the last ones mentioned (^^^) aren't the same color, this would be two votes.:) The closest to lime green seen so far is the face on the goofy smile! Think lime green, think lime. Think lime yellow, think airport fire-rescue apparatus (Federal requirement).

OK, here is a picture of an ambulance in FD Safety Lime, which was commonly referred to as "lime green" (or there were worse nicknames) even though it was more yellow than green.

In the day, the Omaha Orange was the far more popular color. The Federal government specs were for Omaha Orange for ambulances which were paid for with Federal funds - and there were a lot of Federal funds available at the time.

If it were me (and it's not), my first choice would be Omaha Orange. I also like the idea of keeping it all white, as well as white over red or the equally attractive red over white. Lime is also a possibility.

Congrats on buying the car, I know Topper was having trouble keeping it. It's a very nice car, and it will be better with a couple fewer lights.

I'm really liking this.:) Sometimes non-professional lime yellow pictures appeared as an "off" Safety Yellow (I guess due to lighting, maybe film settings - who knows), also marketed as Chrome Yellow. But there is also Safety Green, which is another thread . . . or not.

Nothing wrong with light blue, or even pale green over white.

I'm surprised nobody has suggested red, white and blue!

Thanks for your kind words Mike.

Here is more recent photo of my Lifeliner and also what it looked like when I bought it. Last summer I added the graphics (hand painted by a sign guy), a Federal Double-Tone mechanical siren (they sound even better than a Q to me...check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZPKq5QqjcY), and the spot/flashers (although those aren't working quite yet).

I too posted here to discuss color prior to my final choice. It was either going to black over red (like the North units) or the white over black. Again, in the end do what you want and will give you the greatest satisfaction.

Keep us informed on your progress!

Truth be told, the black/white combo was nice but the beautiful and colorful graphics on the door make it just pop. Tasteful, classy and soooo pretty.

I liked each picture of color combos' you posted. All the pics, input and suggestions are helpful. I think I'm gonna take my time because at this point my mind is changing from day-to-day.
As far as the lights, sometimes less is more and the pics you posted are good examples of the less lights it has, the more elegant it looks.
Thanks for your advice. I'll add pics as I make progress.

Take your time, one day the color choice will come to you. I post this pic not for the color (white over red is so overdone IMHO, and finding a true red is a PITA) but for the lighting. Joe's car is a true classic. From the classic color combo, to the Q, the Full-Vues, interior has jump seats and brick pattern floor. It's Just enough to be cool without jumping the shark. If your car were mine I would keep the high skirt 184 and lose the corner beacons. I like slime green, but hey I grew up with it in the seventies. Omaha orange looks good, my lifeliner was all white when I had it. It's your car, play with it, enjoy it, work out some other details and then choose the color. :my2cents:

Bill,
Your Lifeliner is absolutely awesome in white over black. Huge improvement over the Omaha Orange/white. I am not, personally, a fan of the Omaha Orange/white on ambulances 1973 and older. Looks fine on the 1974 and newer. My '75 Superior 54" was originally all black and you have convinced me that I need to make it white over black. Can't go back to the 100% black.

Although not to pretty to look at right now, my favorite color scheme for the Lifeliner's is as below, Cotillion white over Bolero red! Very common colors used by Miller-Meteor.

Jeremy,

What do you mean "nothing pretty to look at " ??
She is gorgeous just as she sits.....and will be even more attractive when shes done !!

She will get there..and when she does, she will do you proud !!:)

I tend to agree with you, nothing says "classic" ambulance like a red/white coach... !!!:thumbsup:
