Omaha Orange or Lime Green ?

Title says "Omaha Orange or Lime Green?", seeming to reference the "better visibility" issue. Sometimes "lime green" is mentioned when "lime yellow" is desired. Lime green is not "safety" related. Lime green is dark green, related to forest green. Here's "Fire Truck Lime Yellow": http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorco...year=2009&smanuf=Ford&smodel=Fleet&sname=Fire.

I'm still learning this copy/paste business but hopefully this was a color that made me smile.

James,
What great pics of your beautiful repainted 70. Red/White is a classic and stunning color combination....that 72 sure is pretty too. I'm jealous.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but what I posted isn't a copy/paste thing. If clicking on the link doesn't work, press & hold "Ctrl" while pressing "Enter." Glad You Tube worked, which may have been your reference to "copy/paste." :stars:

Yes, I was referring to my limited skills. Thank you for your link.

the 74 car in question belongs to Chris B. I was doing some work on it for him one cold day in calf. it was painted the safety slime yellow at that time and cottington white. the car is now lipstick red and refrigerator white. now me I never got excited about color. if I never liked the color on the car I just went out and got another one a different color. changing a color is a pain. one has to take the car apart to do it correctly. other wise you always end up with pealing paint in the jams or under the hood. looking at that every time you open the door really turns me off. but to each there own. for me it's don't ask me what I think just tell me what color you want it. nothing prettier to me then Omaha orange and gold

I am going against the grain! My vote is for the lime green/fire truck safety yellow color! On the back page of the Miller Meteor brochures for '75/'76 there is a cut-away illustration of a Criterion in the white/green combo, and I think it looks cool.

White Lifeliner

This one was originally yellow with a white top. After nearly ten years, we still have not decided on a two-tone paint scheme (my wife says no yellow) so it is still solid white.

I've viewed your posted pic when it was yellow and I thought it was beautiful and unique. The all white color scheme is pure and simple. NICE !

My '73 Lifeliner

Well I went with the color scheme of the private service (Metropolitan Ambulance Service) that served Greater Vancouver, British Columbia. Not for everyone but had historical value to me.

In the end choose what you like the best and what has value or meaning to you. That may also include the market for sale or use later on. My color scheme does not make it easily for use by the area film industry plus if and when I sell it the market for a black and white ambulance may be small.

Just some other thoughts to consider.

Can't wait to see some additional pictures...keep them coming!

Bill,
Thanks for posting the photo of your '73! My '75 Superior was originally all black and I am considering taking it back to black, but with a white roof. It helps seeing other current photos of other ambulances with a similar color combinations.

Hey Bill,
That historical picture of TWELVE Cadillac Ambulances in a row: Pure joy. And your '73...wow !

The lime green ambulance belongs to PCS Member Chris Bruno. It has since been repainted, and now it is red and white.

I absolutely love the lime green & white color combo. The black and white is very nice looking also. i would stay as far away from red or orange as possible.

some of you may remember the Christmas card I made up with both Roberts and Chris's cars. we had them both at Roberts house and I could not resist one shot of the two of them.

Updated Lifeliner

Thanks for your kind words Mike.

Here is more recent photo of my Lifeliner and also what it looked like when I bought it. Last summer I added the graphics (hand painted by a sign guy), a Federal Double-Tone mechanical siren (they sound even better than a Q to me...check out [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZPKq5QqjcY[/ame]), and the spot/flashers (although those aren't working quite yet).

I too posted here to discuss color prior to my final choice. It was either going to black over red (like the North units) or the white over black. Again, in the end do what you want and will give you the greatest satisfaction.

Keep us informed on your progress!
