Ok, that is not the coach you said you was buying. The car in the pic looks to be a Superior Ambulance. Now spill it.:071:

To me, it looks like a Mid 1960's Superior Cadillac... If I had to pin down a year, I would guess 1967 to 1969... Hard to tell with only the upper portion showing...

1960s Superiors

Congratulations, Dwayne on your new ride. Can't wait to see the rest of it. My first professional car was a '68 Superior Cadillac 51" Rescuer. Those were beautifully styled cars, to which the bullet lights added much personality.

Just a point of reference on these late '60s Superior hi-tops: This car is pretty easy to identify as being a 1965-67, based on the bullet lights and what can be seen of the interior door panel. The '68 door panel design was different. From 1965-68, the front bullets were mounted horizontally, while the '69s were vertical and the 1970 models were diagonally mounted.

I hope this means there will be another hi-top ambulance in attendance at next year's PCS Int'l Meet in Ohio...

I thought participation in the PCS International Meet required PCS membership?

You guys are awesome! Figured someone would pick out one little thing & nail the year right away. It's a 1966 Cadillac Superior 51" hightop "Royale Rescue" ambulance. One of my maintenance techs at work spotted it at a show in Fremont, Ohio. He took pictures & I was texting him telling him what it was. He talked to the owner & the owner knew of me from trolling this site for years... so it ended up I wanted it worse than he did, after some negotiations it was bought on the spot this morning. Actually he is a former PCS member so it may look familiar to some of you. Finally home now & man it drives super! All the lights work & wait till you see the big "Q" siren under the hood, it has a chrome base & brass grill! (Why would they hide that, it belongs on the roof) it's on a foot switch & coasts forever (yes it has a siren brake but what fun is that?!?!) I think the Q needs to be polished & put on the roof... but I also have a Mars 888 just dying to go on it, complete with an angled mount for just such an application. Decisions decisions...

Never saw one of these with suicide doors until this one. Examples of others found online so far have standard doors but there's a lot to learn about this thing. Are suicide doors common on these Superiors? Jim, i'll be by to visit this weekend if you're around. Here's a couple pix for now, I want to detail it before taking a good set of pix. (Also... i'm obviously desperate for '66 Caddy front bumper ends now!) She's a little rough but I couldn't be happier with this chance find that fell in my lap.

Let me preface by saying I HATE YOU!

What did you do? Where did you find it? How much do you want for it? What is with all these members buying new cars all the while going Secret Squirrel in doing so? When I buy a car I can't keep it quiet because of my own big mouth. So c'mon Dwayne I gotta see it, I gotta see it, you know how much I want a car with bullet lights. That isn't the one I went to see in Baltimore last year is it? That car had a lot of potential. Okay I am ranting now:applause:

That is incredible and in our own back yard too! Congratulations my friend, that is an awesome find and cannot wait to see it in person, wasn't my house on the way home from Fremont?

No stops on the way home Ron, I ran country roads all the way... these brakes will give you a heart attack, it took me about 5 minutes to peel my fingers outa the steering wheel after getting home. They are kinda grabby, if you get on the pedal quick you don't know where it's gonna go... the seller said one of the front brake hoses is partially collapsed & gave up a new set in the deal. Come on over anytime Ron to see it, and thank YOU ALL for the nice congrats. I wanted a Superior but never expected this. It is equipped for up to 4 patients and has 2 jump seats (and 2 gurneys) the medical cabinets are all there & even the cabinet doors & handles are intact. Both spotlights work & it runs fantastic. Has 60,000 miles. The headliner is gone but I have the bows & the roof vent assembly. Divider glass & frame is gone. The red high beams alternate with the bullet lights. Oh yeah... it needs a windshield (OUCH!)and some bodywork. Don't hate me Ron... if you visit please drive the Poncho over, i'll behave...

Dwayne, if the brakes are iffy, don't drive it over here 'til they are right, please. In any event, call 'fore you come this way, as we will be gone part of 2morrow afternoon, celebrating Sharon's birthday. 419-462-0733. Oh, almost forgot: very nice ambulance.

Beautiful car Dwayne,
Welcome to the Superior club. I have one question: How are you able to fit a Q under the hood?
