Greeting's again to all well the time has finally come the CB attended it's first car show last night at the Richmond Good old Days festival in Riicmond Mich. I must say that I had a BLAST:yankchain: of all the cars in attendance the CB was the most talked about car I had alot of non beliver's when I told them that in the day these cars could carry up to 4 patients When you try to explain how we had to hang 2 every one looked for the noose's. the Grand Parade is this sunday and I have been asked to put the car in the Front of the with the Richmond Lenox EMS I must say that I 'm truly Humbled the that will post someds Pics s
 
Congratulations! That is humbling that they are putting you up with the currents in their U-Haul. I love how people are fascinated with our cars especially when they are told about hanging hardware. I get a little put out at some of our EMS people though. They either love it or hate it. The lovers are fine but some say, "how could they ever give patient care in there"? and put their noses up. Like they need a rolling hospital! I have worked in both the fire service and law enforcement both fields steeped proudly in their histories respectively. Why is EMS so damn different? Why are some EMS people so ambivalent to their history? Maybe it is just I am a history nut anyway, pretty much if it historical, I am interested. :toocool: Oh and Dan......where are the pictures?????
 
When I first took it up to the ambulance hall the director made a coment to one of his younger medic's that you guys complain about not having enough room in your mod's try working in the back of this, at which time I HAD to add with 4 patient's the young fella scratched his head and asked where you put 4 patient's in something this small and I replied you HANG 2 His response was NO WAY! I then had to explain to him that those 4 things in the ceiling are NOT I.V. hangers so I opened the storage compartment and proceeded to show him how it was done actually I did'nt show him I MADE HIM do a dry run with just an empty folding strecher guess you had the last laugh ???
 
glad you got the car dome Dan been working on it for some time now send me a pictures at least so we can see how she looks.
the god complex in the mine is bigger then yours crowd is really something to get in the middle of. been there done that. these people have no Ida the concept of rolling out of bed at 2am working under adverse conditions, driving some 200 miles with a pt just to get them to care that can handle them then showing up 5 minutes late for work and being called on the carpet for not being on time. all for no pay no respect and no glory. (fireman are the only ones that save lives) just because you want to give a little back. so here is a before picture

:clap:Thanks again for posting the picture, I'll try to figure out how to make an album When I took all the pictures I put them on a disc and a folder in my computer, however I'am better at restoring ambulance's than working my computer. also if my memory serve's me corectly did't I get the taillight assemblies from you?:peek-a-boo:
 
Hell the before does not look bad! I can't wait to see the after. Yeah these new kids out there with their fancy gizmo stretcher that lifts itself into the car. Back in my day I had legs like a body builder lifting people in and out. You ever notice a lot of these EMS people today are metabolically challenged? I know I am now from driving a desk but back when I was in the field I could eat whole pizzas and lose weight.

Dan: terrific job. While others may know, how did you choose you paint colours? Are they based on a "previous life""? Thanks.
 
Tim when you ask about a previous life, are you refering to mine or the car's :eek: the color's are panama sand and caynon corral, these are the colors of the ambulance's from Ruehle's Ambulance that started in the late 50's. I started working for them in the late 60's til the mid 70's when ALS was beginning to take off as a gopher, from what I was told these color's were used by chrysler in 56 panama sand and 58 canyon coral don't know for sure maybe one of our historians can actuallly figure it out.as for the interior we completly gutted it I'll be doing my picture album for all to see why it took so long to complete, between back surgeries (4) and rehab.
 
with the information supplied this is as close as I can come in the DuPont line.

Yes indeed Tony It will be lettered in the panama sand as soon as I can get some money saved up. I will be having a guy Paint the lettering, no vinyl letters for this car: What's another 500.00 for what I've spent so far it'll be well worth it. Today I attended the car show as I mentioned eairlier,for the good old days festival, We started the event with a Prayer,for our fallen hero's of 9-11 Had my two neice's and 2 year old Grandson with me they had as much fun as I did I'll post some pic's first of the week. maybe sooner.I must say it was the only ambulance among all of the fire trucks. and Yes I totally did it up'Hanging strechers and the works.:893USA-Smilie-thumb

But tan and pink, really? I really don’t want to knock you, as I know you did put a lot of work in on this. But I really don’t like those colors. :myopinion:

Ron, I don't see it that way at all. When I take one of my ambulances to an EMS show, the young folks are usually pretty interested in it. They always want to know how you did patient care/CPR in the back, and they are interested when I tell them you didn't do that back then. It's so foreign to them, though, but they begin to understand a little bit.

Maybe "you" didn't because you weren't born yet, but those of us that were, gave patient care and CPR back then. If I remember correctly we first learned CPR around 1966, however, since 1966 is 44 years ago, I might be off by a year or two.. I do know that our squad did a lot of patient care that wasn't done by other squads, because a couple of the fellows on the squad had been medics (no that isn't the term that they used back then) in both WW2 and the Korean Conflict. I got my Red Cross First Aid Instructors certificate in 1962 and started on the ambulance squad in 1958. Before anyone else says it... Damn, I'm old.
 
I worked many a code in a combination and I started in 76. We had six cars three were combos, a straight van, a Superior 61" and a hight top McCoy Miller
 
by the 70's I would think everyone was doing good pt care. I first learned the back pressure arm lift method as a boy scout in the 50's. my first cpr card I have is dated 9-81. got it when I was in Jaycee's members of the locale ambulance service challenged us to learn it. the first basic EMT class held in SD was in the early 70's and everyone knows we are 40 years behind the rest on the nation.
