Interesting to see the crew safety gear used...polo shirt and baseball cap.
Oh yeah, it was very informal in those days. It was only after several safety workers were injured that insurance mandated the extensive "safety" gear worn by workers at NASCAR events today. The so-called "ambulances" were mostly station wagons and panel vans owned by the workers with a sheet of plywood on the floor that had four holes cut out for the wheels of the cot to fit into (no cot bar). The Speedway owned a 1975 Ford swb high top van ambulance and a '62 Superior Pontiac low top ambulance (shown in Post #98 of this thread) when I started there in 1978 with a '71 M/M Lifeliner.

one piece windshield so it 53 or newer. I would say 3 or 4 but the back one is a mystery. looks kind of like a dodge panel wagon
I know Baggett and Summers Funeral Home in Daytona provided an ambulance(s) to the Speedway, but I'm not sure what ones they owned.
