Classy Cadillacs

...scanned from the 1964 brochure. This was the last year Eurekas were built. Both coaches in this set are combinations, as indicated by the fresh air intake at the head of the rear fender fin (just under the "C" pillar).

Actually Steve, those "fresh air intakes" are non-functional dummy items, all '64 Eurekas have them, even the Flower Cars. This was Eureka's answer to mating the leading edge of the '64 quarter panel to the sloping belt-line of the doors, a shape that was basically carried over from the '59 for the following five years.

The Landau in the '64 brochure is a 3-Way coach.

Interesting; apparently, I've been mislead for many years by a leading procar expert! I stand corrected.

I believe the '73 S&S Professional in Uehling, NE was purchased new by Tekema, NE Ambulance Service. Uehling got it from them.

It was purchased used by Tekema from Bob Dietz, who (if I remember correctly) told me it was ex-Eastern. Dennis Svoboda confirmed that she's not an old Eastern car.

1969 Miller Meteor 48" ambulance formerly owned by South Wasco County Ambulance, Maupin Oregon. Presently undergoing a restoration. First picture is when the equipment was being removed on its last day of service. Second picture is after they completed the "decommissioning". Thanks for the clarification on the Tekema / Uehling S&S. Learn something new everyday... Further proof of why these exchanges are beneficial.
 
Well, I guess not...

The oldest ambulance I ever ran calls out of was a '65 Parkway like the one shown here. Who knows...it might be the same car!

As can be seen here, the one I drove had different window decals. The Q2B isn't original; she originally had a different siren behind the grille. The beacon is a Super and the front tunnels are Solar Rays.

Pure typo, there, pal; and yes...she was a beauty! The last time I saw her, almost 20 years ago, she was rusting away on the back lot of Butler Coach.

You are correct, however, the pictures that I posted didn't show that one item. It is in both pictures. I have one more picture that was taken that day, which shows that siren was removed on that day. I contacted the squad, and told them what I learned from the pictures. Previously, they had no idea where the siren went to. Once I told them that I found "proof" in the pictures that it had been removed by them, they started to look for it. They did find the siren in the attic of the building, and I was able to get it from them.

Cool! However...

The siren shown doesn't have the correct base (era, mounting angle, or bolt pattern) for that car. I think John Dorgan has reproductions of the one you'll need.
 
Some cars are especially beautiful and photographed well. I think this is one of 'em. This is a factory photo showing a new 1967 Superior Cadillac Crown Royale ambulance. I can just imagine this car finished in a pretty shade of blue or gold.

Love those Crown Royale Limousine cars, from any year! Here are some more '67 Superiors:

3. Here is an unusually-lit Rescuer from the Wantagh-Levittown Vol. Amb. Corps in NY. Note the Solar Ray front tunnels, Power Light beacon, four Sireno beacons, and unusual lights at the rear...maybe load lights?

4. Royale Limousine ambulance; note that the curbside beacon is slightly crooked (skirt not cut correctly).

Speaking of Eurekas...

I know Ed shared a few photos of this car earlier in this thread, but she's so rare and gorgeous, I didn't think you guys would mind a few more. This is PCS member Joe McDonald's (Rock Falls, IL) 1964 Eureka Hi-Boy ambulance, as I photographed it in 2003 by what little is left of the original Eureka plant. This has got to be one of the sweetest professional cars I have ever been privileged to drive...

A stunning 3-way

Here is Joe McDonald's beautiful 1960 Eureka Cadillac landau 3-way hearse, as photographed at the former Eureka Coach plant in Rock Falls, IL. This car came from Ossian, Iowa. This beauty is still used by special request at the McDonald Funeral Homes in the Sterling / Rock Falls area. (Karsnia photos)
