trim trim and more trim. took me 3 days to get that hatch to fit. but get it we did. armbruster just layed the hinge flat on the floor so one more time we over restored it and put it on the edge liek it should have been. but required a little cut fit and new trim. more of the stuff I got from Mike getting used up.
one of the things a'm not is a finish carpenter. to may years of get it close and fill it with mud I guess. i fit these jump seats at least 20 times but the trim on worked them again. had the seat frames in place the worked OK. but something happen between the upholster rebuilding them, me putting the flooring in place and changing the trim to the newer stuff we had. I swair it was the same thickness. just a wider lip. it took all week to to get the rear one to fit down with out pulling the screws out. but after a number of changes it only catches now on the support bracket. but we did end up moving it forward just a bit there is only a 1/16 inch gape in between the foot well so no room for error places. then we tried to put in the front one. now the hole for it was two small. so I sat back and asked myself what would superior do and we removed 1/4 inch . now we have two seats in this car for the first time since I have owned it. the quarter round in the foot well and it's down to clean up and polish. then what will we do?
the day has arrived put the last screw in the trim today. I can say the car is together all we need is clean up but that is a forever thing. next is to get the floor cleaned up sealed and waxed. it still has the oil smell of fresh florring to it
There there all covered over. The 53 is a mix year mostly slotted screws In back. Were GM used both up front. So by hand in the back was the way it went. My origional intent was to do the two tone green. But in 53 they were dark over light. Not my favorite so nixed that. We need to repaint the wheels and get the new tires on. But we could have had it ready for the new york meet. Guess we just drive it around town some.
