Bushing for a WRL

Post a picture of where the bearing goes on the siren. Are you sure that it is a bearing, not a bushing?

They are brass bushing in the motor. It would appear in playing with it that the rear one is the one giving the problem. Letting the shaft move so the noise maker caches the outer cage. It's the one off the 53 a 6 volt. You here more grinding noise then siren.

Thanks, Dan, I'll keep them in mind. I may have gotten the problem taken care of. Got everything apart. Notice the track on the back side of the wheel were it was dragging on a screw. It looks like this was made up from a few different parts im sure the motor was changed it has a flat spot on it for the set screw that doesn't fit were the set is. So we trimmed the screws holding at cage on added a flat washer to space the wheel off the motor and keep it from sliding back. Took some playing with the set screws to keep it straight on the shaft but once i found the sweet spot she howledIMG_0221.jpgIMG_0220.jpgIMG_0218.jpg.

I would complain to the person who sold you that siren and ask for a full refund. Just send it back to that person and wait for a check in the return mail. :071:

Testing the waters the problem is the hole in the cage, i know there is a proper name for the part. Any way the whirling part is worn out. You get it set it works till the next time around. I was dumb or bull headed enough to thing i could bore it out by hand. That soft aluminum will drill gust not were you want it by hand. So now we need a 5 and 9/16 on my Chinese ruler Werley gig. Or a drill press. With a 4 way clamp to keep it centered. Or the phone number of one of the people that know what they are doing on these things. Cause now i have a big chrome winking light.IMG_20250508_093602.jpgIMG_20250508_093502.jpgIMG_20250508_093349.jpg

You need someone with a lathe to put it into the lathe, bore it out, and then press a bronze bushing into the hole. If they use a solid bushing, they can line bore it so it will be dead center and not affect the balance. It can be fixed, but it just needs someone who knows what they are doing to get it done. If you can't find anyone out there, I know a machine shop locally that can handle the project.

Yes right now there isn't a mechanic shop in town. But that is the plan. Several places up in Rapid. I knew better. Just thought i could bull my way threw.

Now remember when i started this it was tofix a drip in the roof from the wire hole. But we have finally got the siren to spin on this thing i decited i'm not going to take it apart again. So get everything this time. I'll give it a bath before we put the headliner back up.
