I have a 1979 Sedan De Ville Phaeton with 76K miles, believed to be original miles/ This car has an engine problem of unknown origin, may need to be rebuilt. We have had this car for more than a year, it ran well enough when we bought it, but after about one hundred miles of use, it is nearly impossible to drive now. To date, I have been unable to find a mechanic to work on it, so I need for this car to find a new home.

Straight body, nice leather, everything works including cold ac. A few minor cosmetic flaws.

I would be interested in trading towards an ambulance, or limousine. I might trade for any type of car, or truck, I need to be done with this car.

Call me at 201 954 3159 with any questions.

Bill I think it's kind of important for you to specify *why* the car is nearly impossible to drive now. Check engine light? Won't start? Loses power? Will it need to be towed to the new owner's location? Just curious.

I can't believe that no one has given you any idea as to what the issue might be. If it's not drivable, with possibly, a bad engine,...... you might have an $800 car there if selling it "As-Is".

The car ran fairly well when we bought it. The starter is noisy, when I sent it to the shop, he told me it needed a flywheel too. As he supposedly worked on the starter and flywheel, when we picked the car up to bring it home, the starter is still noisy and the car was not running as well as it did before. Things got worse from there. Currently, the car is in Ottsville, Pa, at a mechanic Pete Grave knows. He says the car needs a cam. This mechanic says the cam was a common problem on these cars, but I have never experienced that and I have owned dozens of these cars. When I asked the mechanic how much it would cost to replace the cam, he told me he is unable to find the parts, I think he does not want to do the job. The parts are readily available from what I can see, so there we have it. I am still saying the engine needs a rebuild. Although it runs, it would need to be towed.

The nose alone is worth double that and there are plenty of good parts on it, however, it would be a shame to break it up for parts, it is way too nice for that.

Beautiful car, Bill. I always liked those '77-'79 Phaetons. Someone can correct me if they were not made all 3 years. If that car ended up in my driveway, the first thing that would come off of it would be that grille, and it would be replaced with the stock '79 one. The window shades, I'm still on the fence! Any hydraulics in the trunk?

I tend to agree with you about the grille and window shades, I just never got there. No hydraulics in the trunk, or anywhere else.
