Your First Pro Car?

pictures of mine

I added a link in my signature to show a gallery of pics of my hearse. I tend to not sell the good cars. I also own a 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III that i will have owned 21 years this coming January

Wouldn't it be nice to know where some of your past Pro Cars are today?
That I do know. Among the ambulances we've sold:
  • '65 Superior Pontiac - owned by Evan Butchers in Ontario, diplayed at the museum of EMS history in ON, currently for sale I think
  • '57 Memphis DeSoto - owned and regularly shown by Dawson Blackmore in CT
  • '48 Henney Packard - restored, owned and displayed by funeral director Dick Horne in Roanoke, VA
  • '75 M-M Criterion - owned by Henry Shell in FL, who recently was re-contacted by Richard V. and will probably be seen again
  • '73 S&S Medic Mark I - was owned by Scott Newell in NC, don't know if he's sold it or not
  • '67 M-M Volunteer (I don't think any PCS members saw this) - owned by fire apparatus collector Larry Gaddis in MD and displayed in his mini-museum
  • '48 Seibert Ford - owned by Harry Foor in western MD, and occasionally appears at PCS meets
  • '68 Springfield Travelall - owned by Bob Baker in PA and being restored as a family project.
So several of the cars Dad and I have sold have found new homes with other PCS members. It's not all bad to sell them if they make others happy and are preserved.

And yes, I know we've sold more ambulances than most people own.... It's not a hobby, it's an addiction!!!!

My first that I still own is a 1973 M-M Classic Duplex. Second is a 1977 M-M Landau Traditional. 3rd is another 1973 M-M, a Citation endloader hearse and 4th one. Even another 73 M-M, a Landau Traditional Duplex. The last two 73 M-M's were bought as parts cars since they had both been setting for a number of years. I Also lay claim to two others, I can do this since I serve as the fleet manager of them!:D A 1992 Eagle Brougham Cadillac Hearse and a 1994 S&S Cadillac Victoria 9 pass commercial glass limo. More to come? I'd say prolly one of these days there will be an ambulance in the future hopefully!:)

Well, the 2 that Jeremy "lay claim to" are mine, and the '92 is my first, and I've had her 2 years. Can't believe it's been that long. I've thought about selling Lilly a few times, but I just can't do it!

So far other than me Jeremy Leeann Mike Sarah and Rick, it seems like varry few people still own there first Pro Car. Wouldn't it be nice to know where some of your past Pro Cars are today?

Josh

Josh, I guess that's only because I've only had it 2 years! I hope I can still say this in 10 more years!

LeeAnn, we both know if Jeremy has anything to do with it, there will be a cuple more Pro Cars in your future. Like maby a matching hearse for Elmo?;)

Well it seems that I'm on the list of those who still have their first procar. In 2000 I bought my 1974 M-M combination. It's still around and was last seen at the Miller-Meteor Reunion in Piqua this year. At present I have no plans of getting rid of it (well, maybe if the price was right);)

Shoot Josh, I really can't remember the first and have had several hundred over the last 20 years but first one I drove was my 70 when I started working at Chapman Funeral Home at young age of 16 and after 25 years was able to buy it so think I will claim it as my first born!

1st Pro Car

1938 Buick Series 90 Limited Limousine purchased new by the Berry-Bell Mortuary in Fallbrook, (San Diego County) CA. In the mid 50's it was donated to the Fallbrook VFD who converted it (very professionally) to a Sedan-Ambulance in their own one person shop. It had a Buick "Dyna-Flash" Straight 8 Motor with a 3-Speed (on the floor). I bought it for $200.00 when I was 15 circa 1962 and sold a month or so later for $600.00 (BAD IDEA). MM

My first car was my 1980 S&S Victoria Combination, one of only three known made. It is currently owned by Peter Jennings.

My first pro car was ...

a 1966 Cadillac M-M low top ambulance. It was made by Jo-Hann model company and I must have bought 20 of them in the summer of '67. I had yellow ambulances, red and white ambulances and all red ambulances. Towards the end, I didn't even need the instructions to build them. That summer was my favorite summer of all time. Listening to the Beatles' "Sargent Peppers" and building model cars with the strong odor of plastic glue filling my lungs. I wonder if the glue made the music of the Beatles sound even better than it was?

...and those you wished you had kept...

First hearse at the Cox household was a 1987 S&S Victoria (she was in mint condition until that morning pulling out of the garage!!) which was about 10 years ago. She went in on a trade and like the '81 Superior 3-way--are two cars that I wish I had kept...

After about a 4 year search and saving of coin, I located my pride and joy--our '64 Superior!! She will be in the family forever!!
