Winter Storage

Richard

I did put a plastic owl in the big barn and it DID get the birds to move out and stay out.

That worked wonders !

I bought 50 sheets of plywood today to line the inside of the big barn.
They will be going up soon. That way the weather, sun, bug, birds and dust will be kept way down.

Always improving day by day,
Darren

No, that is half of what I need to finish the big barns interior.
The truck with the bed cover wouldn't allow anymore anyway.

The next 50 with come when that 50 is installed.

Almost a year and close to finishing the big barn now.

You will see it next spring I'm sure.
I will likely host a meet again in the area.

My problem has been with kangaroo rats, they will eat the wiring harness and make nests on the intake. I have found leaving the hood open helps and setting snap traps with a wire attached so they are unable to run away with the trap.

Anyone using blocks or poison remember to keep children and favorite pets clear,we put the barn stuff in the rafters and one of them got knocked to the floor and a small child came out of the barn carrying the stuff, scared me........now can not take the chance, so had a good talk with the barn cats explaining who does what around here....

I've used dryer sheets, Irish Spring soap, a plastic owl, and dogs that love to catch them, but so far nothing seems to work. Finally ended up using mouse traps and just keep resetting them.

Took the Lifeliner out last week and had no evidence of mouse infestation. Just something I've learned to live with but as we approach the fall and winter months, I'm sure they will be back.

You mentioned resetting the traps. You can buy these big traps that the mice go in but cannot come back out. They are a live trap, but I put a block of poison in it. It will hold about 25 mice, so its great for a building that you do not enter as often. I have 4 of these in my garage and they work great!! And dryer sheets in the cars, never had any evidence of them in any car.
