We know you love procars....what are your other hobbies?

Other than pro cars, my interests include collecting antique fraternal items, postcards, and listening to classic country musicians such as Don Williams(Good Ole Boys Like Me), Gary Stewart, John Conlee, David Allan Coe, and Waylon Jennings, among others.

In addition to being a very active Mason, this past August I became a Kentucky Colonel, which is the highest award that the Commonweatlh of Kentucky bestows upon an individual.

I bought my first Cadillac in 1990 when I was a senior in high school. It was a 1969 Coupe deVille. I have had one or more since then. I collect old clocks, radios, musical instruments, oil lamps, and Roseville pottery. I have a lot of 1:18 scale diecast models. I have an amateur radio license (KE2VIN).

I took this picture this past summer when the barn was getting a new roof. The next day I bought a red 1975 Eldorado convertible. Now the 1990 and 1999 have new homes and we added a 2006 DTS.

Kevin, that Eldo reminds me of the one a Darwin Groves used to drive when he and Brady operated SUPERIOR AMBULANCE in Flint, MI back in the 1970's.

Of course my first love would be my wife Terri the two puppies and my two ambulances. I've owned a 72 S&S 3-way, 69 M&M, 84 S&S, and Caddy 6-door. Diecast collection has slowed down but have about 150. I'm also into snowmobiles and and my bikes. I have a Harley Classic and a Suzuki 600 crotch rocket plus a post mortem art collection. Add in all the stuff I've snatched from the closed Reigle Funeral Home too.

Richard, I don't know the owner history of the Eldorado.

I do know that our 1966 Cadillac convertible was originally titled to Swartz Funeral Home. Does that make it a professional car?

hobbies

Collect three kinds of vintage folding kayaks and too many canoes and other boats.... have some vintage Raleigh bikes I'm working on, spend a fair bit of time helping with an annual music festival called Blue Skies, various musical instruments I never quite learn how to play well and am trying to resist a 1950 BSA C11 motorcycle that I keep going back to check the ad about...

Josh Gentry reminded me when he said he had an old color wheels for the old aluminum Christmas trees. I have one of those also, got it from my great aunt's house after she died. I bought an aluminum tree from the man that owned my hearse before me. I also "collect" Christmas trees. The only green ones I have are ceramic, the rest are blue, black, or aluminum.
Where does collecting turn into obsession?

I collect fire apparatus models (mostly Code 3's, some First Gear), some other trucks, and have all of the Road Champs state police cars from the early 90's. I've been trying to unload the Road Champs for quite awhile, no takers. I was starting to take photos earlier, but Barb says I have to dust the room first. Photos to follow.

Half of the basement (15' x 25') is an HO scale train layout that I share with my 2 sons and grandson. Pretty soon we are going to tear it apart and reconfigure it into a more workable layout.

I stay very involved in the fire service, still doing a little teaching on the side.

We own an old (120+ years) house that we really enjoy working on. We've completely gutted and expanded the kitchen, and are working on the downstairs half-bath currently. My den has been a work in progress for the past couple years, and should get finished next month.

When I fully retire in about 5 years, I intend to get an old fire truck or ambulance (1 to 1 scale) and putter around with that.

The last few years we've been "collecting" grandkids. They are an ABSOLUTE HOOT, what a blast. I have a great time with Zachary (almost 5), we go out roaming around together. Just before Christmas we took a little road trip to Fremont to photograph an old ambulance. On the way home we stopped at a neighboring fire department and he got treated like royalty. Very cool!!!

I collect junk

Let's see, I collect vintage ambulance equipment and memorabilia, fire equipment, toys, especially police cars, ambulances, fire trucks and G.I. Joes I also have a bevy of hand guns mainly Smith & Wessons but I also own a Colt and a Glock.:bonk:

Tonka trucks, 1955-60. My favorite ones were gradually putting together a now near complete set of mint, mostly in the box, fire trucks. Also Canada National Parks items going back to the early 1900's.

I collect memories with my daughter. I grew up without much of a dad and since it's been just she and I since she was two I try hard to not let a chance pass to make a lasting memory. We have a great time and hopefully she'll be able to have stories to tell her kids and grandkids. It also appears that after finding this fine group of rather curiously odd folks, that I'm collecting friends as well. Man I'm blessed.

P.S. I believe that my daughter may be as excited about meeting you all in Albany as I am.:thumb:

I collect die cast fire trucks and ambulances. I attempt to play golf, but I do this just to get some fresh air and have some laughs, and donate golf balls to water hazards and the woods. I also enjoy fishing for striped bass during the spring and summer.

stuff just gathers. but I have been able to give it away as will as keep it. got trains and toy cars. like big trains. do a little carving. but mainly I love to build things or take things apart. still a kid I guess

Since you asked...

I have been trough a few, including SCUBA, sailing, computers, but the ones that stuck include:

- Ham Radio since 1990...N5QWA
- Matchbox Series - (I have my original Matchbox Series Collection from my youth (including all of the pro-cars) and occasionally add a new car.
- I am the family "Staff Photographer" graciously taken along on trips to documents my families fun and transport their belongings...

And my vintage ambulance and the PCS of course!

Now this shows a man who loves trains. Since you talk about giving stuff away here Ed, if you feel like giving away a paint job or a rear bumper, I'm your man. Matter of fact I have a great idea. Let's raffle off a "Paint job by Ed" at the Albany meet!!! The winner pays for transportation to and from and all the supplies. Now that would be a great raffle. :hide:
JUST :my2cents:
I would be willing to raffle a cremation or a 4 night stay at my oceanfront hotel.

got me a new 4 inch brush for Christmas and wal-mart has paint pretty cheap we could do it right in the parking lot if they have some place to wash off the car there. ;)
