WANTED, A couple more things for my 71 Superior

I am needing the compleat door latch assembly for the rear loding door on my 71 Superior Cadillac. I would think the latch assembly would be the same on 71-76 Superior Cadillacs. On the same door, I am also needing the small filler piece that fills the gap in the trim at the bottom of the door glas, somewhere over the years it has fallen off.

Thanks,
Josh

you can make the filler out of a small piece of stainless steel or thin aluminium. all they were is a strap folded over on each end. what is the door latch not doing? most of the ills with them will be cured by removing it and soaking it in solvent over night blowing it back out and lubing it with a light oil not a heavy grease. 99 times out of 100 it's old grease and dirt that keeps them from working freely.

Its junk, its wore out. Its had problems for years, even when the car was still in service back in the erly 90s they were having problems with it. Theres no telling how many times someone has tryed to fix it. The door will open from the inside, but not the outside. I've thought about trying to fix it again, but would probly be better off finding a new one. I should have a scrap piece of stainless or aluminium laying around the shop. I might see if I can just make me a filler piece.

you sure it's the latch not the handle. I would bet the push pin has lost the rubber tip and is no longer able to trip the latch. I have seen them bent and broken in two but never one that can't be fixed. it's two simple a mechanism. made from heavy Iron. try removing the handle and see if you can trip it by pushing a screw driver thew the hole. if you can fix the pin on the handle. the only other thing that will let it work that way is if the lock is not unlocked. even part way the outside remote will not be able to trip the latch.
