I don't think the blam rests on Aug producers. They are just supplying a product that is in demand. All funded by your tax dollars at Large. Pull the taxpayers dollars out of the alternative enrgery pool and it will collapse into it's self. All these things were tried in the early 1900 and apandoned then as not practical. The one that is is of course the hydrogen on demand generators. Proven to work but ignored because they can't figure out how to tax the water.

As big of a PITA as alcohol is in gas, it beats MTBE all to hell 18 ways to Sunday.

MTBE should have been marketed as a penetrant given how well it found potential exits from underground tanks and contaminated ground water.
MTBE sent a trainload of Kohler engines to the grave thanks to its ability to penetrate fuel pump diaphragms, and probably a few car engines as well. Then there is the high probability it gets into the food supply and causes Cancer.

Even if you remove the alcohol from current market gasoline it will morph within 9 months, according to chemical engineers, into plastics and liquid of unknown makeup. Gasoline is a mixture, not a solution.
