Here is my 1985 Eureka Pontiac Chieftain.
There were only 38 Eureka Pontiac Chieftain hearses built in 1985, this was the 3rd one built.
This coach was ordered on 3-21-1985 by Eureka professional car dealer Gil Kaplin of Brookline, Massachusetts for a stock unit. On 2-13-1986, it was delivered to its first owner, still unknown at this time.
This coach was retired from service at Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Home, Norfolk Nebraska in November 2007 with only 45,000 miles. It was traded into Premier Coaches in Mason City, Iowa where I purchased it shortly after.

here are a couple of Eureka Pontiac Chieftain's

#1 The prototype of the Eureka Pontiac Chieftain Landaulet. This photo was taken near the Eureka Offices in March 1985. Tom McPherson Photo

#2 1985 Pontiac Chieftain landaulet in Red. Tony Karsnia Photo (maybe Tony K. can tell us more about this Coach ? )

The only difference between the prototype and the production cars were the taillamps.

The car in #1 photo the prototype used the same taillamps Eureka was using on the buicks and Oldsmobles, while productions cars had a variation of the standard Pontiac taillamp assembly.

I like the use of the wider white walls on the cars. easy to see when you get to looking at them new the thought that went into the finished product

Eureka wagon conversion?

Many folks may not realize that Canadian-based Eureka built a handful of station wagon conversions in the early years under Tom McPherson's leadership.

According to Tom, these conversions came off the line in 1980 and early 1981, all on standard-wheelbase & length Buick station wagons. They were modeled with the "Patrician" name, which was then used as a full-size Buick hearse model after the wagon line was discontinued due to lack of customer interest and Eureka's desire to build full-size hearses. Tom also told me that all (of the handful) of these cars built were delivered to Canadian customers.

This example was delivered to an Ontario funeral home, but I suspect it was repainted by the time this photo was taken, as I can't imagine Tom would have allowed a car to leave the factory with landau bows mounted incorrectly!
