Superior On Vegas!

Many of them probably would have thought it was a hurst. Or Ghostbusters.

At least it wasn't painted Omaha Orange and Cottillion White, didn't have a Twinsonic lightbar, no EMS Star Of Life emblazoned all over it in reflectorized decals, and AMBULANCE spelled backwards on the front of the hood was nowhere to be seen. :)

Hello,
Bill you are correct, they should. I have talked to my son about this. His major is in entertainment, he's done several productions and a movie. He tells me that every show has a budget, TV shoots very fast and have lower budgets than motion pictures so they have only so many $ to spend. Sometimes you have to take what is available the day of the shoot. Props department get the script material and some times ony have a one day window for a prop call. Sometimes you find exactly what you want but the owner has restrictions so it will not work. If you have a big budget like JFK or Tucker, you can have replicas built if you can not find what you want.
But to me still, the bottom line is that these retro shows get these cars out to be seen. The only show recently, and it is now off, Pan Am, I did not care for the way a car was treated, it was a red 1961 Cadillac convertible in the first episode c:893USA-Smilie-thumb:my2cents:.
Thanks For Listening.

Thanks Gus, your points are well taken. However, I have rented a number of cars, trucks and ambulances to movies and TV shows over the years. From my experience, it is very exact, they want what they want. If the script calls for a blue 1962 Impala four door, they rarely settle for a green one, or a 1963. In short, there is generally not much compromise. Even with generic cars, if they want a maroon 1998 Ford Contour, that is what they get, eventhough nobody will notice, or care. I don't want to keep beating a dead horse here, but I think if the show is 1960, then they should have vehicles from 1960 and older.

Good question Steve .......When I take mine out ..one of the first questions is "How come it does not have AMBULANCE spelled backwards on the front" ???

HUH ???????????

I like to reply that people cant see it coming with lights and sirens ....how are they going to read "ambulance" in their rear views ,while TRYING to move to the right ??:bonk:

I think until the National Highway safety Act of 1973 was enacted , an ambulance did not have to have a sign saying that backwards on the front until then .

Bill,
Thanks for the info. I have had the same thing happen with my telephones...they want what they want. Well any way back to the cars. Did any one see last weeks show? The AMBULANCE was on.
Hay hold on a second maybe it has that decal on the side so younger people know they were once grand autumobiles not modular vans...just a thought

Some emergency vehicles around here have what I call the "Batman syndrome"... you remember on the old Batman show, how EVERYTHING had to be labeled? "Super Joker Batman Squeezer" sign on an object that looked like an FM transmitter?
Today, many emergency agencies want to label the vehicles for their function and I don't fully understand why. We have labeled in large letters in our area, "Extrication Unit", "Quick Response Vehicle", "Fire Department Support Unit", or "Animal Control Unit" on a police truck...
