Superior On Vegas!

Did anybody see the red & white Superior high top on Vegas tonight? I was curious whether it is owned by a PCS member, or if anyone knows anything about it.

I just saw that too !!

what year is that show suppose to be in ? I thought it was in 1962-3 ???

I was under that impression myself. It seems odd to me that the creators of the show would make such a blunder. Maybe they thought that nobody would notice?

I enjoy the show but the first episode said it was 1960 and the 1st cars you see are a 1961 Lincoln, 1963 TBird and 1962 Cadillac. if its old and has chrome and fins it works in Hollywood. I realy liked that 65 last night.

The "Ambulance" graphics on the rear quarter caught my eye right off. It seemed out of place to me, like viewers wouldn't know it was an ambulance if they didn't spell it out for them. I like the show though, haven't missed one yet.

Many of them probably would have thought it was a hurst. Or Ghostbusters.

I had the same "problem" when I worked on the movie "We Are Marshall". They put big lettering on the doors of my units that said "AMBULANCE". I asked why? They don't put "FIRE TRUCK" on the fire trucks. They don't put "TRASH TRUCK" on the trash trucks. They don't put "SEDAN" on the sedans or "PICKUP" on the pickups. So why put "AMBULANCE" on the ambulances?
Never got a good answer. :stars:

Good question Steve .......When I take mine out ..one of the first questions is "How come it does not have AMBULANCE spelled backwards on the front" ???

HUH ???????????

I like to reply that people cant see it coming with lights and sirens ....how are they going to read "ambulance" in their rear views ,while TRYING to move to the right ??:bonk:

The show said it was 1960. They just thought we would not notice the year difference. But who cares as long as we get to see these great cars.
I will take a little " incorrect" any day I can see nice old cars.
Just my thoughts

I also enjoy seeing the old cars and trucks in action and I get your point Gus, but really, don't you think they should have been able to find the correct year, or older? In this case, 1965 was the beginning of a new styling era for Cadillac.

Better than 50% of the people that watched that show, couldn't tell the difference between a 1955 and a 1975 automobile, and you think that they would know the difference between a 1960 and a 1965 ambulance. Heck, people still can't tell the difference between a red and white 1959 Ghostbuster ambulance and a 1975 "normal" ambulance. To the general public, they all look alike........

You think thats bad, people cant tell the difference between the ghostbusters car and a 1995 black over silver CHEVY HEARSE.

That just might also have to do with the problem, they could not get a correct year model as easily as they could get one that to their eyes works. I mean as I think about it if I was making a TV show in Albany and needed a ambulance from the late 60's I would have problems finding one here unless I pay to bring one in at a much higher cost than the 70 I already have. I believe it is called literary license. Remember I am telling a story to entertain not to make a documentary were I would want it to be more accurate as per the cars.

Only photo I can find at the moment... And yes, I'm glad they spelled out it was an ambulance. With all those lights, I would have otherwise mistaken it for a UFO or disco ball.

I've been watching the show, amazed at what the cost must be for the main street set that's used so often. Any ideas where the shows actually filmed?

I've thought a car guys dream job would be a car warangler for that show.

The car seems in really good shape, too much to be a prop car kept by a picture car rental company.. Im sure it's rent to a private owner... anybody know if it's a PCS member or on this forum here?

Hello,
Bill you are correct, they should. I have talked to my son about this. His major is in entertainment, he's done several productions and a movie. He tells me that every show has a budget, TV shoots very fast and have lower budgets than motion pictures so they have only so many $ to spend. Sometimes you have to take what is available the day of the shoot. Props department get the script material and some times ony have a one day window for a prop call. Sometimes you find exactly what you want but the owner has restrictions so it will not work. If you have a big budget like JFK or Tucker, you can have replicas built if you can not find what you want.
But to me still, the bottom line is that these retro shows get these cars out to be seen. The only show recently, and it is now off, Pan Am, I did not care for the way a car was treated, it was a red 1961 Cadillac convertible in the first episode c:893USA-Smilie-thumb:my2cents:.
Thanks For Listening.

Vegas cadillac ambulance

I put "feelers" out to try and find out who owns it.... with no luck yet including checking with "L-F" from Burbank. I understand VEGAS is being filmed (primarily) in Santa Clarita (Just North of Los Angeles) MM
