Snowmageddon

"Snowmageddon" is what President Obama named our recent snowstorm here in the Washington/Baltimore region. If anyone's curious, we survived. Officially, 27" Friday night and Saturday.

Photo below is our garage, with 5'+ drifts in front of the door. It'll be quite a while before I can get inside. But the roof is holding up, so the ambulances will just stay there for a while.

There have only been 13 snowstorms ever with 12" or more of snow in this area in recorded history. Usually about once every 10 years or so. But two of the top 10 storms have been in the last 7 weeks.

I want to go somewhere with less snow, like Canada.

It will be gone soon.......... spring is coming, and there is global warming to also help. :yum:

Good luck digging out of a mess like that. They say we're going to get snow Wednesday, and Thursday. I hope it doesn't hit us that hard.

it does make a man rethink a flat roof. but tell me why is in only news if it hits a high density population. they just this week finished getting power restored to all but 6 places in Sd and still had 25 in ND to go. that's from the storm 2-3 weeks ago. they had about all of the north western state out. around here it's just a normal day. now then if you had 50 head of dairy cattle in that barn instead of old cars you would get the tractor and have that door cleared in about ten minuets. that before milking the next day. the hardest part would be were to dump it. here I only clear off the wife's side of the driveway. I bought a 4 wheel drive just so I did not have to shovel snow. we were in sioux falls the first of last month and every residential street was one lane and had been so for a month. will be that way for a couple more. this global warming thing can start any day now. but me I'm not banking on it. it's been kind of nice now having a normal winter. this last little bit we got a couple days ago just made moving jim's 66 a challenge but it has good rubber on it and walked up the drive like nobody's business. just like 8 lanes of traffic you get use to it. me I would rather fight the snow.

Snowmegeddon

:my2cents:

Steve - you guys got off light. We're about 30 miles south of you and got 36 inches (according to my yardstick), the biggest snowstorm yet!

Here it is two days later and our street has remained untouched, and the street it intersects with likewise hasn't seen a plow.

All we've been doing is shoveling, shoveling, shoveling...

I just posted one "working" photo on my avatar...

Bee Hamlin

And I understand they're calling for 10 more inches on Tuesday????!!?

Wow, last week we got about 4 or 5 inches, and i was griping about that, saying i'm moving down to Florida with Richard. The older i get the more i hate the snow. I don't think i could stand living where you guys live.:respect:

Not snowed in, but this one came at us "backwards" from a normal storm. When it does that we wind up with 3-5' drifts in front of the garage (wonder where do I keep the tractor???) and 3'+ drifts all the way down the driveway which is about 100' long. Needless to say we had a lot of fun getting it all moved. More coming Tuesday night with the same "hook" as this one. For joy, for joy!!!!

Just glad ya'll are doing OK in the D.C area! Knew ya'll had been hit hard wit last storm. As Josh said we were hit pretty hard for us just last weekend. Stay safe and warm all!

As John said...There's a reason God created the Desert... You all might wonder when you here of our Summers but I'm NEVER leaving for Snow Country again.

S n o w

Richard,
They are calling for 10" here on Wednesday....26 to 36" South of us...feel kinda left out !!

I don't care were you live any time you get snow in feet you got trouble. around here it would take us a day to have things up and moving. but we have invested in the equipment necessary to do so because we get it on a regular bases. not in feet though. you really do get the were we going to put it, trouble. here we would dump it in the river till some Greene shouted NO. so now they have to truck it to a place to pile it so it can melt and run into the river go figure.

Micro-Meet Weather Report

Regardless what happens outdoors, we guarantee that the micro-meet show field will be clear and dry on show day. We also promise that the artificial sunlight will be plentiful above the showfield. So what are you waiting for? Get your bags packed, your reservations made, and get on your way to Flint for the biggest smallest professional car show of the year, Feb. 19-20.

My cars are all washed, waxed, and ready for the trip!

Disclaimer: If we should happen to get snowed in and have to extend our stay in Flint, I expect to be taken to the place that has the best pancakes in town! :D
