chronicle your sad tale of woe here for all to read about. Possibly it will get you the Hard Luck Trophy. On Saturday, we could hold an unofficial vote by the website members to see who they believe deserves the trophy. The we can compare the results with that of the meet committee on Saturday night.

my sad tale of woe is that i have a headcold. i am thinking i will stay home so i dont spread my germs to everyone.. day 3 of Z pack antibiotics though so I am hoping that things might change. Hope that everyone has a great time!

I'll go first

I live just a quick 45 minutes from the meet hotel. So yesterday morning I started moving the 5 cars from Marlboro to Hudson. First out was the Pinner. Now I know I need tires on it but I have it on my to do list. I got just 10 minutes away from the hotel and all the tread came off the right rear tire. No worries, I called AAA for a tow and they refused to tow it because it "is a commercial vehicle" I argued and AAA agreed but the local AAA tow company would not touch it. That one ain't over yet! So we found an NTB store and took the tire off and took it there. They do not have the 875 R16.5s in stock. They will order it today. The car had to sit along the road all night. HPD was great about keeping an eye on it for me. So today NTB called and they "cannot get that size". WTF!!!!!!!:stars: So I have spent the whole morning calling around and have found one that only cost an arm and a leg. Our on site mechanic came through though and found one for only a leg so we should be able to bring her home today. Keep your fingers crossed.

Vyse tale of woe

Pulled in for gas in Tenn and a guy walked over and showed us a huge bulge in our rear tire. Of course, had to unload the whole car to change it. Then stopped in Dayton to get another spare. And on our way.
Danny shredded a tire, so got another in Dayton as well

This seems to be the year of the tire. Danny Skivolocke, another meet committee member, is having problems too. I'm nervous for what surprises my combo will pull on me during my 12 minute drive to the hotel today.

Be safe Everybody! I do not want anyone to have any more tales of woe. Its too hot out there to be changing tires & to have any stress. Wishing everyone lots of fun and air conditioning :)

My tale of woe.... I worked very hard to get my wife to agree to go the the PCS meet. After a perfect sales job (done by me)..she thought it would fun, and interesting to see all the cars. Then, all my staff had other plans already made and I couldn't find anyone to cover for me!

I really, really wanted to go. Reading all the posts from those who are able to attend is breaking my heart!

I hope those of you who attend have a safe and fantastic time!

So today I have a low tire in the C/B and the master cylinder went out on the 66

Here is my story...

My limousine was hit by a trailer over the 4th of July. I took it to my regular body shop Tuesday morning. They were not opened. I then took it to Auto Pride Collision. Wednesday, the claims adjuster came and approved the $1800 worth of repairs. I told Auto Pride to fix something that was not covered by insurance while they were waiting for parts. I was told that the limo would be "ready to go" Monday evening.

Friday morning, I went to see how the limo was doing. It was still sitting in the same spot that I had parked it and nothing had been done to it. They had it for three days! I was p@#ed off. I asked to speak to the manager.

One of the workers was getting coffee and told me that the work wouldn't be done for another week. He said that they take in cars, make promises to the customers, and that they still had a vehicle that was brought in on Friday's Day that they hadn't started.

Imagine how "worked up" I was now. The manager came in to speak with me and told me that he hadn't looked at the vehicle because his assistant was taking care of "the case" and didn't know that there was work to be done that I was going to pay for "out of pocket."

I told him to give me my keys and I was taking it to my regular body shop. He said, "We ordered all of your parts already. We are going to start on it this morning. The insurance company has already approved all of our repairs. You need to pay for the parts." I said, "You haven't started on it so I owe you nothing. I'm taking it to my regular body shop that does better work and I can trust them to do what they say."

Took it to my regular body shop on Friday morning. They worked on it all day Friday and Saturday. Went to see how everything was going yesterday. They could not find the fender trim, wire wheel well, and hubcap anywhere.

So off I went to Dort Highway where all the salvage yards are in Flint. I spent all morning going from one to another. I found the fender trim! The wheel well and Mercury hubcab were found online after an hour on the computer. They won't be in for two weeks.

Took the trim to the body shop and they couldn't believe I found one and how dirty I was. Yes, I experienced my first time of going through junk yards looking for parts. That was kind of fun.

They had the car primed for painting, had the other work I was paying for myself all done, and the limo will be done today.

They still have to put all the door hardware back on, the side trim, and the inside panel of the door.

If all goes well, I will be leaving here around 4:00 today with a couple things still not fixed.

I feel your pain

Today I stopped by to hopefully pick up our car from the paint shop only to find out the hood had just been painted and the driver door was in the process of being sanded to be repainted. Not only has the 3 weeks turned into 3 months but the price has increased. I have been assured that the car can be picked up tomorrow at noon. I still have to do some preventative maintenance things before the trip. Hopefully tomorrow or early Friday we will head out.

after reading about all the Tire troubles some are having on their trip to Hudson this year, reminds me of when my wife and I use to go to Mini Meets ( our version of International meets for Austin Minis ) now Minis only have 10 inch tires and its not like you can go anywhere to buy them in the U.S. so what we did was throw a couple of tires ( on rims ) in the back seat and when we got to the host hotel we would just take them up to the room with us ...out of sight...out of mind. One time coming out of Denver we where behind a flatbed truck the drop Two boxes of roofing nails all over the interstate....... all I can say was...it was a good thing we had a few extra tires on us. we would still be there !!!!!

when ever I take the coach anywhere long distance...I always throw an extra tire and rim in the back ( along with my donut tire)

hope everyone is having a great time in Hudson??

But at least you got that toxic waste R-12 out of your car :boom:

I stopped for gas and a rest in Mansfield, Ohio on my way home, and while sitting at a red light, I had the AC line that runs under the car to the rear unit literally explode. Just sitting there, hear this loud BOOM, suddenly big cloud comes out from under the car, had no idea what happened. Naturally I shut off the car instantly and got out right there at the intersection. Took a couple minutes to figure out what it was, then check that everything else was ok. Fortunately, no damage to anything else, so continued driving home uneventfully without AC. Considering all the things that could go wrong with an old car, I'll accept this mishap!
