Thanks Ed, the good stuff is going away..I remember years ago painting some rims with Imron and putting them on my truck. I still see that truck around town and the rims look like I painted them yesterday. The formulation for Imron has changed about four times since then..and not for the better.
Cheers,Pat

Lacquer is still available in CT, but most of the shops are switching over to water based paint. I haven't seen what a complete paint job with water based paints looks like, but I have heard nothing good about them.

I don't know of anyone's lacquer that would compete to the manufactures stuff. that painting wet sanding then baking them tell they flowed did something to the finish that really made it hard and the color last. all the stuff you could get would fade out to chock in a few years.

the problem with the centre is it's so hard that when it get a hit hard enough to chip it it looses a big chunk. but it's a easy paint to work with . I'll stock pile a few Gl before the end of the year.

I found the success of lacquer was to use the same brand thinners as the paint, even though it was more money. When I had the shop, we used only Dupont paint and thinners, unless it was a repair job on the ambulance. That had the paint manufacturer as R&M, and we used R&M paint and thinners on the touch up repairs. Seems that no matter how wide the door opening, someone managed to rub the side against it. Usually the excuse was "I was trying to get close to the gas pump to fill up." Once we put a extra long hose on the pump, no more scrapes on the side.

I just love the color combination on this car. Shes almost there. I'm sure Ed and Brendan are both excited. Ed is excited to get it finished and out of there, and Brendan excited to get it finished and home. Lookin darn good as always Ed.

got most of the rear door together today so here is a couple of shots from the business seat facing rearward. I wish we could have saved the scroll ironed in the tan but with having to change colors it was not possible. the boss was checking me out again tonight he is always in a hurry to get back in.

I remember seeing your car at Grand Rapids, and thought it to be a particularly beautiful car a the time. Now........ even better! Congratulations on being able to put as much time and money into the car as you have. It truly looks great. Tom
