New car....

ED is right about the sedan being more friendly than the limo. I have had both kinds, and the sedan front seat is infinitely more comfortable than the limo seat. Check the air bag load leveler components on yers soon before putting much weight in the rear quarters. On my '72, I loaded it up right away, and broke some element in the system back there, and decided to put on manual air shocks. The car will ride better if yew can retain the orig system. Very handsome car. Good luck with it.

Jim...

I guess I don't have to worry about the original rear load set-up, as the car already has newer air shocks and lines on it. I wondered why they were on there, guess now I know! There are so many things that I don't know about this car, having no previous experience with anything older than 1970 when it comes to Cadillac. I did find the metal protect-o-plate tag in the owners warranty booklet last night. Plate reads.....

Well, that saves you some trouble, as someone has replaced the orig system, which was prone to failure after the years piled up. Where is the fill valve on this one? Some were routed down behind the license plate, some into the trunk, some thru the bumper. I once met a fellow who had his rigged up with a lever next to the driver's seat, so he could adjust the shocks from there. That rear A/C unit can be a real bag of tricks, too. You will learn as you go along...................

Fill valve is on the left side of the trunk latch, inside the trunk. Yeah, the air conditoning system is something that I will definitely have to farm out, I know NOTHING about it. Not presently working at this time, and we have had some really warm days here lately....I am sure it won't be a cheap repair and I sure need to find someone fairly close who knows what they are doing, and has worked on something like this before. Very large section in the shop manual devoted to the A/C system, and after seeing the set-up in the back, no wonder.

Cool....

Probably part of the DuPont Co. headquarters, which is in Wilmington.

You are very right Steve. Found this on Wikipedia a few minutes ago....

Robert Ruliph Morgan Carpenter Jr. (1915-1990) was an owner and club president of the Philadelphia Phillies of American Major League Baseball. When he took command of the Phils, in November 1943 after his father purchased the franchise, Carpenter became the youngest club president in baseball history. He succeeded his father as principal owner upon his death in 1949. He would serve as president of the Phillies until 1972, when his son, Ruly, succeeded him.

The Carpenter family owned the Phillies from 1943-81, the most successful period in the first century of the team's history, winning National League championships in 1950 and 1980, National League East Division titles in 1976, 1977, 1978, and 1980, and the team's first World Series title, in 1980. Distressed by the free-spending, free-agent era of the day, and anticipating the 1981 baseball strike, the Carpenters sold the Phils months after their World Series triumph[1]. The team was still one of the strongest in the game: it made the 1981 playoffs, and won the 1983 NL pennant under its new owners.

His mother was a DuPont and his father was an executive there.

Well, I finally went and did it....I bought my first Professional car today. 1968 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 Limousine, with 74,200 original miles. originally owned by a funeral home in Dover, Delaware. VERY good shape and the asking price was a very good deal. Here are a few pics of her, not cleaned up yet, but couldn't wait. :071:

If you need parts I located one in Winslow AZ in the bone yard it is in good condition and is scheduled for the crusher in October 2010. If there is anything you want off of it let me know and I will get with the owner and pull the parts for you. Send me an email to Winslowcemeteries@gmail.com and I can send you a picture I took today of it.
