Update...
I just spoke with the guy who is rebuilding my motor and they found out what the cause of the noise was. To quote him, "a shredded piston". He said it was good to have caught it before it went, otherwise it would have made a real mess of things. I am really glad now that I went ahead and had this done.
He said other than that, the motor is "sweet". Getting ready to put it back together. Cylinders bored, crank being polished right now, heads are done, etc. so we are on the way! And yes, Ed, I dropped off the correct Cadillac blue engine paint from Bill Hirsch a few weeks ago. Next comes the bill......:bonk:
