My 54XL: Two years later

Jim: That is a terrific transformation you have done!! Amazing. These cars are now so few, it is great to see one returned to this status.

WOW, she sure has come along way. Just goes to show that all that money, blood sweat, tears, and frustration is sure worth it in the end. You should be proud of that one, she is a beauty!

11/24/13 update

So, I've installed more medical equipment, hung the new curtains and installed the new console (custom made by Tim Hamilton of "Hamilton Hot-Rods"). Now I'm off to drill holes to mount my refurbished body moldings. Starting to run out of things to do on this one. Wonder what my next car will be?

I have seen it in person, and it looks like the Colonial Classic, but in tan. Jim found a remnant at a local shop, and bought what was left. He is giving me the balance to use in one of my cars, and when I get it, I will check the backside to see the manufacturers name and it might possibly have a pattern number.

The tan version of Colonial Classic was available recently and may still be. When I had my M-M restored at Penn Dutch, I had a half-roll of the original red CC, which was used on my floor. Very little was left. Right after me, the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad had their '72 M-M restored. Jeff was able to locate the tan material, new, for that car. And it looks very good, like something M-M could have used back in the day.
