Just a quick note to ask if anyone has recieved their copy of the new MM book from Amazon yet ?

I know Iconografix has them now and some people have recieved their copy from them.

Today I have placed an order for 8 copies thru the PCS store site to help out the club. They still say pre-order on the Amazon site. Im hoping they get them soon and ship them out to everyone waiting.

I know there will be members wanting to get them signed at the MM reunion on May 21-22 in Piqua. The Amazon shipping date on my order today was
later than the reunion date.
Lucky for me I can have Tom sign mine anytime as he lives 10 minutes from me !

Looking forward to getting the MM book !!!
My first hearse ever was a '68 MM Citation and I loved it. I currently have 3 MMs and one Superior.
Hope to get a Eureka at some point and maybe an S/S too.

Post when you get a MM book from Amazon.

Thanks,
Darren

M-M books

The last we heard from Amazon our best possible delivery date was May 19. That in my opinion is cutting it very close to reunion time. We ordered our book through the PCS/Amazon site/link. I guess this is the price we pay for getting the pre print price. When they were saying the delivery would be in mid to late April all looked good. We will just have to wait and see what happens.
I would like to get my book signed at the reunion but may have to wait until Albany.
Here is hoping someone will post here as soon as they get their book.

Many times Amazon will have a date that is not correct, and the books will be delivered before the posted delivery date. I found this with the Henny Book... It came about 10 days before they said it would arrive. Paul

not yet

Paul,
Thank you for the note about Amazon and their delivery dates. However, I am not yet ready to say 'whew'!

for sale in Piqua

I think the books will be for sale in Piqua. Some of us old _____ ordered ours at the pre publication price (a lower than published price). When you live on a pension you learn how to save here and there. Now the delivery dates have been moved by the seller. I don't know if this fits the title of planned chaos or not. Just one of those things we will deal with. When I ordered my book the seller said the delivery date would be mid April. Now we hear it may be closer to May just before the Piqua meet. Don't know if the seller talked to the printer or was just guessing on a date.
It comes down to buy a book at the pre published price and save a few bucks or buy it at the published price and don't depend on what sellers tell you.

30.00 less at Amazon and you also save 4.00-7.00 more on shipping.
almost 1/2 price at Amazon.

Plus the club gets a little commission if you use the link in the "sticky" notes.

(I bet the commision is very little, but I guess it helps with lots of orders.)

M-M Book

I know of at least two that are in-hand now, probably many others. Got it. Love it! Lots of reading, many, many photographs, great history.

The Weller book is fascinating too!

Just how much is the new M-M book?? I had asked Tony K to tell McP to bring 2 copies to Piqua for me, but now what I think I am reading is that $30 can be saved per book by buying from Amazon. Like another poster, I am retired on a small pension, and each $ adds up. Could one of you shed some light here, please? Many thanks. Jim

Dennis

Did they get them from Amazon ? I would say no on that.
Likely Iconografix if they have them already.

Jim

Iconografix is the publisher and sell them throught their website or their store Enthusiastbooks for 79.95 plus 4-7.00 for shipping. 84.00 or 87.00 a book
Available now.

Amazon has them listed for 50.37 including shipping.
That is 34.00 or 37.00 less than the publisher.
Available in a couple weeks as they have to get them and send them out.

If you want to wait a few weeks you would save a lot if you are getting 2 copies.
I will as I ordered 8 copies for my friends.

I too was hoping to just get them at the signing but all inquiries didn't lead
anywhere. It would have been nice to have heard that they were going to be available so people could have know and looked forward to get their copy there but for whatever reason its up in the air.

Hopefully there will be books there. (Or at least there should be ! Its a book signing ! Really, how could there not be ?)
If there is a deal or not is another question.
I guess you will just need to wait and see.

Hope that helps,
Darren

Thank you, Darren. Your info helps a lot. Guess I am really out-of-touch with prices these days. $80 a book? Wow. I understand supply and demand, and "niche" markets, etc., but that still seems steep. I see no recourse other than the Amazon route. Are there any pitfalls lurking with the Amazon choice other than the wait?? Thanks agin. Jim

Jim

If anything, it will help the PCS by ordering through Amazon.
Look in the "sticky notes" and click on the link.
The PCS gets a little kick back if you order through that link.

Plus you will save about 68.00 on 2 books.

Personally I hope it all goes well because I ordered 8 books through the link to help the club out.

On another note... I used the money I saved on my copy of the book to become a PCS website Site Supporter ! So the site definitely got helped with my order.

Maybe Paul can let us know what percentage the club gets so people know and will use it more knowing how much it helps out. I can't see it being much but every little bit helps.

I will let you know how it goes,
Darren

ordering from Amazon

Jim,
I have never had a problem with ordering from Amazon. The change in the delivery date for the M-M book is the only snag on this order. I ordered my book at the prepublication price. That saved even a few dollars more.
I used the link that is on the PCS website so the club got their commision.
I will order more through this link. I just won't expect to get them on any kind of deadline.

Received info from Amazon the Estimated Arrivale Date has been moved up to April 29 2010 - May 03 2010!

It must depend on where you live though. I got an email from Amazon this morning about the new date range and mine said:

"Previous estimated arrival date: May 26 2010 - June 02 2010
***New estimated arrival date: May 10 2010 - May 17 2010"

Chuck, did you just get the free shipping or did you upgrade it? That might explain the date differences too. I'm not sure where they are shipping from though.
