why don't coach builders use RWD police chassis?

Why didn't coach builders use the Crown Victoria RWD as a base for a hearse? I see Chevy is bringing back the Caprice as a RWD police package. Why don't coach builders use that as a chassis? Just wondering. We use them as police cars, and they hold up well, and it would seem to me would make a car that is similar to the late 70's and 80's Caddy's. Just wondering.....

A number of years ago, Superior - or should I say Accubuilt - did in fact build some short wheelbase funeral cars based on the Ford Crown Victoria police package chassis - complete with matte black grilles, heavy-duty wheels and blackwall tires. I have no idea for whom they were built or where they went but, I have some pictures of one of them around here somewhere. Believe you me, they weren't particularly attractive.

The Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis/Town Car is no longer in production.

From what I remember reading, the "new Caprice Police car" will be a Caprice in name only. It is based on the Australian Holden-Pontiac G8 platform; not a full size car.It will also be sold only to law enforcement, not to the general public.

I prefer the looks of the MKT limousine over the coach design. but not as a superstretch that some companies out in calfornia are doing other than krystal per shots on the LCT website maybe gregg M. can helpout with some shots. funny thing about the caprice 2 got sold to the general public per a dealership in maryland per a loophole that has since been fixxed.

The new Caprice!

The new Caprice is actually a Holden Statesman-it is slightly diiffrent than the Pontiac G8,but it is a full-size RWD car. In fact, it maybe a few inches longer than the G8. Hopefully,GM will build these as Impala Super Sports in the future. Action news reporter Jeremy Ledford just sent me pics today of a few Caprices at Wilson Co. Motors in Lebanon. They are super cool, but they would be way better with a better trim package along with the Impala SS name. Maybe jeremy will share some pics... hint, hint.
