Look what I found!!!

For a living, I am an EMS/Fire Emergency Response Officer/Trainer working with our First Nations communities. In my job, I travel to some of the most isolated and rural areas of British Columbia, to some of the most beautiful areas on the planet. Many of these areas are seldom visited by non-First Nations people.

Today, while I was visiting a Band about 25 miles down a logging road from the nearest pavement, about 600 miles from my home, I made an amazing discovery.

To make a long story short, I have made arrangements to acquire it. I won't be keeping it, because we have no more room to store a third ambulance. I have offerred first dibbs to a fellow PCS member who I know will treat it well.

I know that Richard and others will make a loud noise if I don't include some pics, so here are a few snaps of my find. Another one rescued!

WOW Doug, incredible!!!! Goes to show you, you never know when one finds another pro-car tucked away somewhere just waiting for a PCS member to find it. Glad you got it and making sure it is going to a good home. :applause:

Amazing is right, Sarah. Equally amazing is that I have been told that those are the original cot and oxygen "D" cylinder that were purchased with the ambulance. The vehicle is single-owner, still in the possession of the original purchaser.

Hey Doug, at least the band did not strip it and make it into a vehicle for transporting their instruments. Looks beautiful!!!:applause:

Thank goodness for that, Richard, but in this case the owner isn't musical.

Up here, First Nations communities are referred to as "Bands". I believe, down your way, they are referred to as "Tribes". ;)

Is this the same car that Bill Leverett was looking at a few months ago?

Hi, Jean-Marc...

No, I can pretty much guarantee that Bill hasn't seen this one. This car is about a gazillion miles out in the bush, and over 1,000 kilometres away from Bill. I believe I am the first non-First Nations person to see it in several years.

Yes, I did know about it

:DI posted some pictures of this vehicle back in October. Yes, I do have spies throughout BC.

Here's the thread:

Glad to see you're out there digging Doug...this was a skill test to see if you actually were looking. When I spoke to Roy he was asking $5,000 and wasn't too interested in negotiating. I had a mechanic check out the vehicle for me and the report was not what 5,000 should buy. Front frame has been repaired plus numerous other issues. Nothing that some $'s wouldn't fix but not at that price. One of the biggest issues is the "custom" rear bumper. Finding a replacement for a '69 Pontiac/Superior is next to impossible.

It's always interesting to see whats out there...did you find the '53 Pontiac north of 100 Mile House?

Well, aren't you just full of surprises, Bill! What an effective spy network you have! As you well know, the location of the vehicle is not a place where a person would come across it easily.

There's an interesting twist to this story that you may find interesting. Roy doesn't own the ambulance, and never did. I'm sending you a PM with the details.

No, I haven't seen the '53 yet. I'll keep looking!:D

Attention: Jean-Marc

You were right, my friend, when you suspected this was the car Bill had posted about. I stand corrected and apologize for the misinformation.

I'm still pretty amazed by the reaches of Bill's spy network! :respect:

Terrific!

Excellent Doug!

I'd give a lot to have a picture of that car with Olympic Gold Medalist :893USA-Smilie-thumb Lindsey Vonn.

All the best!

Rick

Hey, Rick....maybe I should offer that up as a value-added bonus prize for the Olympians.

"Win a medal and get your picture taken with a vintage ambulance!".
