Kevin and Jeremy....
I noticed that too, and contacted CaptCadillac with that very question. I was told that the whole thing is so thin, that it easily flexes and since it is glued to the dash (like the original), that it is not an issue.
Jeremy,
I have that catalog and actually ordered one of those. For the record, it TOO came convex, but again, is so thin that it easily flexes the other way. It was unfinished and is not attached to a thin metal backing plate like the original or the one CaptCadillac has, which is already finished in the correct stain color. Original Parts product is also ash wood, where as the CaptCadillac one is the correct rosewood. The wood veneer on these pieces are literally the thickness of about two sheets of paper, so the shape is not really an issue. Thanks for all the concern though, I appreciate it!
Shawn (and Michael Lee),
If you are looking for replacement wood trim for your dash and would like to keep the car's original appearance, I would be hesitant to use what is shown in that eBay auction. The original wood trim on the 1968 is concacve from the viewpoint of the driver and what captcadillac is selling is convex.
