John Keel's '73 Crown

Yes, it will be interesting for more than one reason. Obviously, it is the best car in John's collection. How much is the car worth? How about the story of John R Keel, how much will that add? Will the final bid price meet Ann's expectations?

Having met John and Ann back in 2000 at the Kingston Meet, I was very impressed with the knowledge of professional cars John had. He knew so much and had such enthusiasm for the cars, that it was hard to believe he was only sixteen years old, at the time. Ann tried to do the best to preserve John's memory and his legacy, but she is doing the right thing in selling his collection and moving forward with her life, at least in my opinion. I hope she gets a fair price and that this beautiful coach finds a good home.

Wow! I wonder where that picture was taken? Didn't John Keel Live in Michigan? When I bought the 1972 Superior Pontiac in 2010 I bought it in Nebraska and had it shipped from Nebraska to Illinois. I wonder if the picture is old and possibly was taken in Nebraska when John Keel purchased this combination coach?

Bruce: Just out of curiosity.... do you know where your Pontiac served new? How is the restoration of your X-Fort Wright (KY) '73 Medic Mark-I coming? THX-MM

Most of the pictures are old, and taken at the 2005 PCS International meet in Denver, and they took the picture of that Pontiac on the return trip home.
For some strange reason when it comes to these cars I have an almost photographic memory as to a picture Ive seen before, and what I saw it in. So I went right to the Superior Times, and the Pontiac is right there in issue #7, from the 2005 Meet issue, although it is a much better shot of it.

Not sure how you can best attempt to sell a car off almost 10 year old pictures? I hope any potential buyer would test drive/physically inspect before purchase.

Bill, Ann is not selling off John's cars to move on with her life. She has kept the cars now for almost 12 years. Don Keel, John's grandfather (whom he lived with most of his life and at the time of his passing) fell ill and could no longer take care of the cars. Sadly, Don passed away on Thanksgiving day at the age of 86. Eric Chapman and myself visited Don a year ago and he was still having a hard time dealing with John's death. Although, he very much enjoyed talking about John and showing us his cars. Don's wife passed away a number of years ago so the collection must be sold.

Thanks for the update tim. Either way, it is still a sad tale and I can easily understand everyone's pain.

Bill: I like your new Pontiac Ambulance "avitar" Where did it serve new?

Thanks Mike, I out and out love the car.

Originally, the ambulance was owned and operated by Western Lane Hospital in Florence, Oregon. Then it was owned by Lowell Fire in Lowell, Oregon. After that, it was used at a racetrack in Oregon. That is the history of it's "in service" life, as best as I know it.

Has anyone heard as to where the '73 Crown combo went? I thought the price was reasonable, if it did in fact sell as the listing states.
