Interesting ford ambulance conversion to camper

Looking through the album, there's a lot of other very odd ambulances we've never seen before including a rough 1958 Edsel ambulance with tunnel lights! Nice find Robert

This is interesting. I'd never seen an Australian conversion such as this and brings back memories of seeing hearse or ambulance-based campers on Burgess's lot in Loudonville years ago. The professional car based camper was extremely popular in the States throughout the 60s and there was a company specializing in these conversions. Although today we mourn the destruction of old coaches, these conversions enabled the dealers to get a bigger buck from otherwise unwanted older used coaches. Burgess here in Ohio and Dennis Distributors in Michigan had quite a number of these done.
