Interesting Car From Across the Pond

Other than being a 1953 Chevrolet I know nothing about this car.

As a paramedic and former funeral director in New Zealand I can say that this is not in NZ, - it very much looks like Australia. Up until the late 1950s there was no 'standard' ambulance builder in either Australia or NZ, prior to that each town would have the local panel beater or coachbuilder adapt a sedan or light truck. As such, each vehicle is unique and it is impossible to say who built this unless you happen to know what town it served in. It is interesting as I was not aware that Australia used any side loading system (other than in some helicopters). This would be a very cheap conversion option, so I would suggest this is a small country town.
