Hearse Fire

I thought the fire Dept moved at a leisurely pace, like it was not really important. Ive never seen firemen move so slow.

The reality of the situation is this is car that because it is on fire is now junk. The firefighters are moving with the urgency a burning pile of trash requires. No life threat, no threat of extension. No need to risk falling and breaking or spraining something. The engine driver parked up hill, up wind and out of traffic. The fire went out, everybody went home. Hopefully the coach is insured.

Ed, fighting car fires with the booster line went out with open cabs, riding the tail board and rubber boots.

having suffered a starter lock up a number of times never had one do this. my bet is on the unnoticed fire shorting out the starter. but then I was not there. either way I agree it was toast. had they set the extinguisher by the right front tire and pointed it up when they discharged it it would have helped. I'll agree on the need for speed. but if you get in the habit of walk down wind then put your mask on it's a good way to have your days in fire fighting end earlier they you want. I'm also sure they don't have a 1 inch rubber line on that truck. hard to tell is that is power or just light concrete but you see the man get handed one, he looks at the car ad walked in to the station. they did leave that truck up by the pumps to.
car fires are a pain in the butt and after the fact you usually don't have enough left to figure out were it started. but as for the repair all you need to do was cut it high on the pillars and toss all that way. then graft a front end out of the yard on it replace all the lines damaged . it's a lot of work but I did it for a man in 76 he loved his wagoner that much.

AMEN!! What's a 1" booster on a attack truck? That's right, I think the last man that fell off a tailboard took it with him.

1" rubbers are found on brush rigs and drug stores now. Last I thought, a hearse was not exactly a grass fire. Lmao!! :p

Ed,

The headlight could have been the only damage. However, again, the insurance company would have listed the coach as a TOTAL. (Not an opinion, but FACT)

.

I been reading the different opinions on the actions of the firefighters's. As a 38 year veteran firefighter with 20 years as an instructor, they acted properly. One thing that leads to ff injuries is getting into to big of an hurry. TBunker gear and an air pack can be heavy and depending on weather conditions can be very exushting work in. The first thing taught to ff here when they start their training is safety and everybody goes home.
