Great fun in Augusta

Well, hats off to Southeast president John Burchfield. He arranged a GREAT time this past weekend in Augusta. Members Dave Petke, Ralph Burns and their wives joined my wife Donna and I as we had a great time with John. I hope he and Dave or Ralph will chime in with more info and perhaps pictures.
We saw the Gold Cross EMS ambulance collection and all I can say is wow!!
Those lucky enough to go to Milwauke this summer better look out. There is a certain 37 LaSalle that will give everyone a run for the money! My wife took a little ill while we were there and two of their EMTs snapped into action. Rocky Blessing and Mae Bledsoe put in an ambulance checked her vitals, put the ac on "meat locker" and monitored her. Seems the Augusta heat got the best of her. THANX to those great folks. The entire staff at Gold Gross is what southern hospitality is all about! EMT Bledsoe also demonstrated several times a Stryker stetcher lift rig. What a back and knee saver for EMTs. She lifted and loaded one handed!
Then we went to a 100 year old fire station in Augusta and saw a 1963 Mack and a very old LaFrance fire truck. The fire fighters are trying to resist the cities attempts at selling it. They want it to be a museum and the city seems to think a B&B would be better. REALLY??!! I hope the fire fighters win their struggle.
We then went downtown to FarmHaus Burgers to enjoy lunch.
We crossed the Savannah River into South Carolina to the Posey Funeral Home. Unfortunately duty called and our tour had to be curtailed some but his General Manager still showed the Posy fleet with pride. Their 2011 Eagle Echelon is in deed a stunning coach, but their 2005 S&S Masterpiece was no slouch!
Eveyone had a blast. Thanx again John!!!!!!

'63 Mack is a beautiful truck. Two years ago while exhibiting at Motor Muster at Greenfield Village I had the great good fortune to befriend a man who owned a beautiful '63 heavy duty tow truck. When I told him I happened to have my CDL he asked "Would you like to drive it?" Of course I jumped on the opportunity and wheeled around Dearborn for a while after the show was over. It had a duplex transmission, two sticks. That's what I learned on, ages ago, was a real blast from the past.

Shame on me! Forgot about Bill Head and his bride where there too. Sorry Bill, massive brain fart! He jumped on me as soon as we got there in a friends borrowed 2002 Macoy/Miller Ford "TRUCK" ambulance saying thats a TRUCK not an ambulance!

Thanks to John for a job well done, Carole and I enjoyed having dinner with John, Peter, Dave, Ralph and wives. The trip to GoldCross was worth the time, what an amazing collection of ProCars. For you that have not seen The GoldCross collection, view them at www.goldcrossems.com.
Thanks

yes it is the local chapters that make the club work. I envy those of you that are closer together. I would like to attend the next gathering of northland but don't think I'm up to the 1200 mile round trip to do so. so post your events with pictures so the rest of us can ride along

It sure seems that you folks had a good time with great people. I sure wish I could have been there with all of you.

Awesome time

It was great to have you guys. You are all an amzaing bunch. I hope you had as good time attending as I did spending time with you.
