I'm not in the funeral business and I think thats lacks taste and feeling. It is bad enough to have to be seen dead in that clownmobile, but can't imagine what kind of A**Hole would drive around in that monstrosity. I wonder what kind of calls that company gets?

everyone has there bit of tasteless humor. this is most likly one of them not any kind of real business. but it does bring up the point of the change in attitudes in the country regarding funerals. that all the people in the business has shifted to cater to.

I would venture that is this is a real company and that people are just insensitive and cheap enough and will use them! After all, Grandma is nothing more than a piece of meat or as the State of Florida proclaims once you're dead, garbage. Looks to be European to me.

That is just about the tackiest most disrespectful thing I have ever seen. Thank god I think Ed may be right, it looks like the phone number might be a fake number. Where did you see this?

Josh

Come on guys... is anyone actually taking this seriously? For starters, the picture is Australian - so no worries about seeing that on the road here anytime soon. (right hand drive van, 07 country code in phone number) I doubt even the most budget conscious cad would take anyone seriously if their name is Mort U. Ary. (I bet the checks would be written out to "CASH" and I'm not talking Johnny) But mostly... it's a poorly done photoshop. I take that back... The person that did this probably lacks the talent to OPEN Photoshop, let alone use it...

As for retail casket stores? Been to Costco lately?

That's how it all get's started. I never in my wildest dreams ever thought people would treat their dead relatives the way they do now. Gives "Shake~N~Bake" a whole new meaning.

Whatever!!!

..........

Yes... an no caskets.. Only on the website... However, when this news first broke, I remember a trade publication that quoted someone as saying that you could die waiting in line to check out...

They already have that, some Home Depo's and Lowe's sell caskets know.

Still haven't seen any there..

It cant be serious. If you read the "name" to call, it is "Mort U. Ary". Doesnt sound like a REAL persons name to me!

It is obvious that some people just take life way too seriously, and as a result, they see things in a different light than those of us that don't...

While I recognized the photo that started this thread as a joke, I do agree with the underlying theme of funeral traditions are going out the window it seems.

Even in my life time, and I think I'm one of the younger PCS members, I remember a two day wake, followed by a third day that had a service at the funeral home, a procession to the cemetery, and a service at the graveside.

Now the funerals I've been at for the past couple years consist of a couple hour wake followed immediately by the funeral service, and that's it. No seeing your loved one off to the cemetery, no finality, and everyone just seeming to have the attitude of lets get this over with so I can go home and enjoy the rest of the day I took off of work. Great attitude to have towards someone who you will literally never ever see again.

As I see it, this rather cavalier attitude toward the end of one's life is just another example of the general degradation of society, and in a matter close to the hearts of people in this club, an example of why we end up with ugly vehicles like the new line of Lincoln hearses. After all, where is the incentive for funeral directors to demand dignified formal cars when they can conduct all their business out of the eyes of the family using a van bought at the local car dealer?

Poor taste van

Try this; Bump your picture size up to at least 400% and scroll down to the writing under the door and above the step. If my vision is not failing me it says; Imnotrightinthehead.com (I'm not right in the head. com) That may explain this excercise in poor taste.

:respect:

Over the last several years I have seen a drastic change in how society is treating death even in the rural area that we serve. This is of great concern to me. Even if people choose cremation, for example, as the choice for final disposition they still need to have a service of some kind to mark this VERY important event in their lives. Some people just don't see the importance of a service.

my observations

My observations here over the past ten years:
* more music played, less emphasis on the minister's eulogy
* more casual dress of those attending and of the body
* more of an attitude to take more days if necessary to allow out of town family to arrive
* more undiciplined children attending visitation and funerals in lieu of being kept by caregivers
* visitors smoking at the graveside while the minister is talking
* more late comers to the ceremony
* shorter and earler visitations
* fewer flowers being sent
* more family conflicts
* more personalized caskets , urns, memorial folders etc

My observations here over the past ten years:

Funny how you mentioned many of the things that happened today at a Memorial service at the funeral home. They died 2 weeks ago, thank God they were cremated. Nieces were 12 minutes late but we started without them and they were a couple of the speakers. Kid's in the back of the chapel screaming while building lego castles. It was a service with cremated remains then a processsion to the cemetery. You do not know how many people attending the service when asking; "Will you be driving to the cemetery?" came back with a shocked look on their face stating; "She was cremated why are they going to the cemetery?" How the hell do I know you stupid idiot! What, you don't care enough to spend another 15 minutes with the family sharing the death of their sister, mother, grandmother or do you have to get to the restaurant and eat to take your back pill getting that early bird special. And if I heard it one more time how they are handicap and cannot walk very far and need to park close. Believe me, all attendees needed to park close and guess what, you can't. Ever hear the term "EXERCISE".
The things you hear when you don't have your gun!

don't you just hate it when he holds back. come on Richard tell how you really feel. but I have to agree with you. how ever I have noticed that now they stand and are quiet during national anthem. once again that is. when I was a kid that's the way you did it. then there was a time from just before and after 72 clear up to the first iraq war when you did not. now we're swinging back. so I guess if you live long enough it comes around. the key is to weather the storm with grace. who ever she is??
