Service cars to drool over :)

Just sharing some photos of service cars, since we see so few now-a-days, and I love 'em... :D

its a 47

Adam,
Great pictures, thank you for sharing. The Church and Son car in the garage is a 1947 Chevrolet. Wonder how many of these are still in hiding waiting for us to recue them?

While it's not a procar....it was a service car for a rural mountainous funeral home somewhere....I wish I owned it

The 55 Chevy I posted above is most likely NOT a National. This one deems more studying.
This one however is a National30vj8k7.jpg

Thanks, Mike. Looks like I was a decade off... :)

You just never know...

At this same funeral home, there was a brick building a block away, which was the original funeral home, furniture store, and car dealership from the 1920's. Stored in the back, unseen for 30 years until we went in, were also the funeral home's late '20's Studebaker ambulance, a '40's Cadillac hearse, and a '50's Cadillac combination. Sadly, the owner passed away shortly after we found these, and they all disappeared after an estate auction.

Love those Clarkesville pics Adam. Before 441 was 4 lanes to NC I used to drive past Church and Son FH and see the white fleet in the driveway. I never caught anyone there....DOH!

Cool picture Cary! And you may have helped identify one of my photos from my extensive "I don't know what heck these coaches are..." files.

The torch sconce on the J.C. Little service car looks a lot like the one on this hearse. Could it also be a J.C. Little coach?

Yes Adam it is a 1953 J C Little Pontiac landau from Hughson Funeral Home in Ontario shot in 1961 by Walt. (I was 2 years old) :pee_smilie:

For some reason I now want a First Call Car for my collection, I don't know why ? there is not much to them especially the newer van types. So I was thinking we should have a special thread for these cars and vans.

The only one I have seen in person is Len Langlois "s 1960 Fisher Chevorolet and I think Dwayne Brooks owns a 64 Pinner.

I don't know much about the History of First Call/ Service Cars Hopefully some people on here can educate us ?

I LOVE service cars! I don't exactly know why. I think I see form in the function. I like things that are more industrial looking, building, cars, etc. I hope to have a service car one day. I was so happy when I found out my hearse was used as a first call car. There are not that many service cars as most funeral homes used older hearses. Now they are using vans.
