Finishing Touches

The 1963 Cadillac Superior Rescuer project draws to a conclusion, as Ed puts the finishing touches on my car. Here are a couple of pics I really enjoy! I am in the process of booking transport home for this beautiful car. What a transformation. The first one is a before shot.

Brendan, what more can anybody say? That is one beautiful ambulance! I wish I could talk you into bringing it to our Northeast Chapter Show on May 2 2012 at Peddler's Village in Pennsylvania. I bet you would win Best in Show! That would really show people what the PCS is all about!

yes bitter sweet, Tired of working on it but it is one striking car. I have never walked into the shop and looked at it with dread. sent Brendon some final figures and then made the mistake of adding up the hr I have in the car. I have about 4 hr a day average of 6 days a week for about 18 months. I made a bout half what I did on the last superior I did. I'll have to make up for it on this MM or the eureka will be free if I keep going down hill. but it's been a fun project I want to thank Brendon for sending it out to me. two more moldings and its all together again. ready for the transporter, hope they take there time.

Ed,
I am going to try to get by Purkey's to pick up that fender moulding on Friday morning of this week, if Al is going to be around. Will then get a shipping tube and get it to UPS on Saturday or Monday. I can't take all this pressure! LOL!!

.......... I'll have to make up for it on this MM or the eureka will be free if I keep going down hill.........

That is why I asked for a "guestemate" before sending it. How about you finish it first, then we can haggle the price.

Im curious......Ed has done a fabulous job on the cosmetic restoration, but what mechanical restoration has been done on this car since Brendan bought it?

Ed... the way your going everyone will send you their pro cars to work on....you do very nice work. looks great .....who needs sleep ????

I'm thinking about all that has been done on the engine is a bent push rod changed and a water pump. we have had the carburetor rebuilt while it has been here. with only 45000 on the odometer it only got the sitting problems.
but thats the way you find them if they are looking good the engine and drive train are bad, if the it runs good the body is rough. if both are bad it been junked.

Brendan, she is just beautiful! I cant wait to see her in person one day. Congradulations, I know how excited you must be to get her home.

And congradulations to you Ed once again on such a great job. This is what the PCS is all about boys.

Rick, I have had to repair a bent push rod and bad rocker arm (the same), I had all the gaskets replaced, the carb was rebuilt, and some transmission gaskets replaced. It runs well, but some day may require more extensive mechanical work, but for now I'm going to enjoy it.

we have been able to make a few changes in the aperance of the car while it has been here. we'll keep plugigg away till it leaves. Brendon said Jen would not ride in it till the seat got fixed. will thanks the Roy Keith Custom it got there.

The 63 is not be believed - Thanks for saving her. She was in Pittsburgh in 04. Enj t in good health-can hardly wait to see Paul's 69 M+M. I drove several of them at Memorial Ambulance Service in Buffalo. In fact Memorial had over a dozen M+M Volunteer Cadillac ambulance from that we 1965-1972s

trust me it doesn't take a lot to do better then "superior". but there is nothing like one of them for the WOW factor. we keep as much of the car as original as we could. that rear floor is a example it's rough and shows a lot of wear and tear but there is no way you could match it up with anything on the market today. with out it the car just would not look the same. the red green swirls with the 24 carat gold flakes and mother of pearl in lay. will you can't capture it in a picture. Brendon wanted a usable car versus a show car. like everything one does if we were stating over knowing what we do know now there were a few things we would have done different. the man that did the stiching on the interier and the platter were the big winners on this one. but it has been a fun project. it been even more fun to drive down the road in. I washed it yeaterday. I remember now why I sold my high top.

Brendan's Baby

Ed and Brendan,
I picked up your driver's side upper fender moulding today at Purkey's Salvage in Coffeyville, KS. Of the 3 '63/'64 commercial chassis in the yard, that was the only example of that moulding. Still had all 3 of the passenger side moulding! I'll get a shipping tube purchased on my way home tomorrow and swing by UPS to get a shipping figure. I'll pm you, Brendan, with shipping amount.
Kurt

The best shipping tubes are schedule 40 PVC pipe with threaded ends glued on. Reusable, and almost indestructible. Just pick the appropriate diameter size for the moldings that you are shipping. Stuff one end with some rags for a cushion, and insert molding. Stuff other end with some rags to keep the molding from moving around. Tighten end cap, and put on a shipping label. It can go by UPS or USPS. I prefer the post office, since they have a better track record of not loosing things, especially if there is insurance on the item.

Kurt, thank you. Just one more PCS member who helped me make this happen. Not to sound corny, but this really IS a great group of people we have here. I'm proud to be a member of this club.:applause:
