Elkton Kentucky funeral home destroyed by fire.

Any fire can be devastating. But to loose you business and a historical building is even more so. At least they have a second location so all is not lost but I know from personal experience that the loss they are feeling is immense. Thankfully, no one was injured. Thats what matters; the rest is just material things that can be replaced.

I had first spotted this funeral home nearly twenty years ago, when some friends from the mortuary college and I drove through Elkton. The entire town is historic.

The first president of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis, was born near Fairview, which is just a few miles away. Todd County is without a doubt one of the most scenic areas in Kentucky. Up until a few weeks ago, I was a funeral director in Central City, which is only an hour or so North of Elkton. I was last there just a couple of months ago.

Awful news. Just awful.

it is surprising how fast you can loos everything. but like was said as long as people are OK the rest is just stuff.
