When that Virginia-based earthquake reached NYC, I was, of all places, in the rotunda of CitiField (home of the New York Mets) attending a press event debuting the latest generation Toyota Camry, which featured simulcast from Hollywood's Paramount Studios and Toyota's U.S. assembly plant in Georgetown, Kentucky. We were availing ourselves to a buffet when we felt a most-disorientating shaking, and only a few minutes elapsed before an alarm sounded and security actually evacuated the stadium for about 20 minutes. The automotive press being the automotive press, we naturally took our buffalo wings and cookies with us! I was impressed one of my colleagues already had an i-Phone report from his wife on the quake's epicenter and strength by the time we reached a "safe" distance. That's progress! With no actual damage anywhere to be seen, the ride-and-drive portion of the event went on as scheduled, but the quake was the only thing CBS News Radio talked about on my two-hour drive home to Warwick.
