Earthquakes!

News reports are saying the quake was felt in parts of East Tennessee as well! We felt nothing here in the middle part of the state.

The skyscrapers in Cleveland and Akron were shaking. It's always amazing just how far earthquakes will travel.

I was parked at the plant in Aliquippa, PA. waiting for my load, listening to the EIB network. All of a sudden the truck started shaking real hard for about 30 seconds. I thought somebody was bouncing around on it somewhere. It quit, then about 20 seconds later started again and lasted about 20 seconds. I had no clue.

A few minutes later the guest host on the Limbaugh show came back on and told about getting "rocked around" in the studio in New York City. He followed that up with breaking news about an earthquake. How about that?

Been there, done that; Years ago while waiting for the end of my shift one early Sunday morning here in Phoenix the chains on the back of my medium duty tow truck started rattling and the truck shook me from a little slumber. I didn't say anything to anybody at the time thinking I had imagined it.

Turned out to have been the Northridge quake in Los Angeles.

No worries in Pittsburgh!

It was about 30 seconds of rolling... some pictures askew, etc.

I've been informed by the NGS, that it wasn't an earthquake at all... but was actually a result of Paul dropping his wallet at 13:51hrs.:D

That is all!

Carry on everyone!:stars:

Rick

I didn't feel it but Toronto was rocked by it today too.

I have felt lots of them here in Toronto in the past but not today.

Darren

P.S. Rick, Paul should get a Brinks truck daily now instead of every two days to unload that wallet !

I never felt anything, personally. I did feel uneasy in my stomach, but who knows if that was swaying or lunch. When it supposedly hit, I was inside, but again, I heard stuff, but didn't feel it. I walked outside the station, and the fire whistle made a "click-clunk-click-clunk". As if it were swaying slightly, and the metal sheeting was denting and popping. Its been loose for years, does that when it's really windy. Someone came out and said the trophy's rattled in the case, but again, never felt it. I didn't believe it when someone called from the Williamsport, Pa area and asked if we felt it. The last time we had an earthquake that was felt here, happened in New York State quite a while ago. That cracked walls and broke windows.

People said it was bad, stuff fell of shelves. But the floor is wooden, I'm sure the ambulance would have fallen into the cellar if the beams swayed down below. It lasted about 15 seconds, but the seismic people didn't say anything, they have the whole area wired for sound in natural gas exploration.

Two threads on the earthquake topic.

In MD, a 5.8 earthquake is considered "WHAT THE #### WAS THAT????"

I was at work, sitting in the back of an ambulance with a small tour group when the ambulance started shaking, and the other ambulance parked behind mine was shaking in the opposite direction. As you all may know, I work at an airport fire department, so my first assumption was that a plane had crashed into or near our firehouse. I saw no downed planes, but the FD heavy rescue squad parked next to the ambulance was rocking severely from side to side. Then it stopped.

Now you Californians may get that every week. But we don't. I have never experienced an earthquake before, so this was a new and novel experience. And I hope I never experience one again.

Oh, I can't wait for this weekend's hurricane. At least we're used to that.

The family who was having visitation at the funeral home this afternoon told me the casket was shaking, and that they had to steady the lid for fear it would come down. At first they thought one of the children had gone around the casket and was bumping it. It was about 15 minutes later when we realized they had seen the effect of the earthquake here.

hay I got worked up with that one when we were in La. we have more quakes here in Sd ten they do in La. our are justin that 2 to 3 ranges so not a lot of damage. with things moving in the west side of the basin you have to expect it to catch up on this side

They said it was felt in michigan , didn't feel anything i live 20 minutes outside downtown detroit. one of the ones darren might be refering too i did feel back in the 90's at my girlfriend's house. does anyone know where certain fault line's are located ?

Didn’t feel anything here in the Denver area. Reports of minimal damage and no injuries for southern Colorado. Thanks for checking!
